Paid or unpaid, she is still the only one who didn't stab him in the back like his "father figure" did. Sure, she messed up and overreacted, but it is obvious that there is more than a professional relationship there. She said, "when he came home from work". Home?? Sounds like their home, not just his home.
Heck, did you even hear of a teamate going to visit or check him out?? Nope, not even his coach did.
She's no saint in this, after all, she made the situation worse. But she isn't the absolute villian either. This situation is far too complicated to just blame her. There is a long list of people to find fault with.
