Owens can be a solid #2 or even #1 on most nfl teams. He's without a job because his negative reputation, not because he can't play. Now I'm not saying Owens didnt influence that reputation, but in my opinion it is greatly exaggerated. I knew it was over for him when Dallas let him go. He was the perfect Scapegoat for Jerry and the fans. It still bothers me that people still think Owens was one of the biggest reasons for our failures.

He's out of a job because he's 38 and recovering from an ACL tear and because he's a head case

That's absolutely ridiculous. He led a complaint group about targets to Witten and he looked like he just found out his pet hamster died after a win we had where he only caught 1-2 passes.

I loved TO when he had that ridiculous incentive-laced contract the first couple seasons here, but he went back to his bipolar ways right after Jerry signed him to an extension again.

That was one of the worst contract extensions ever. You don't give a cancer like that security which is exactly what that large signing bonus did.

I have the utmost respect for the shape he keeps his body in and the effort he puts into that. If he spent 10% less time on his body and put it into his mind, he'd be a hell of a player.

I don't understand the irrational TO hate. But there are a lot of lemmings on here so maybe I do understand. The media caused 90% of the TO problems. He is/was a great football player and he gave us a lot. Hell he put up 980 yards and 9 TDs in 14 games last year! He has a lot left in the tank.

HOWEVER, he really doesn't have a place on this team. We have a good set of receivers that we will be comfortable with for the next 5 years or so. So as much as I like TO, no he isn't a good fit here anymore. He needs to go to a team that needs a good number 2.

Everybody basically said the same thing you did. No hate, he just can't produce more than what we have and certainly not enough to outweigh the self made controversy he brings. He brought the media problems on himself, don't confise that. He made TO, not them.
