T.O. Hypothetical

Just watching the T.O. interview on NFL network. Remembering that he was "good" T.O. at Philly for one year, and in Dallas for one year. Of course he always ends up being a distraction in the end.

BUT..... if Garrett could have a conversation with him, and we could get "good" T.O. (I'm talking personality not ability) for just this year.... would anyone take that chance?

Damn, son, all that HeraLife is making yew punch drunk.

OK, mens, step aside and let me have this one.

NO!!!!!!

There is a better possibility that Joey Galloway will be available.

Read the post more carefully :) I never suggested we do it. Was simply wanting to hear the opinions.

Why do some people think the media is to blame for all the TO mess? That the media somehow fabricated the stories or blew them up to be much greater than what they were?

I do think the media goes a bit overboard, but realistically TO is a problem. The coaches and management aren't making decisions to cut ties with TO based on watching media reports. They see first hand what he is doing. They don't need to be told how to react. He has been cut by 4 teams since 2005. Seems like a trend to me and not some media fabrication.

This is an excellent post. And now a rebuttal from terrellowensdefense.org.

*crickets*

Darn. Word does not get around the internet as quickly as it used to. :(

I have a couple of rules:

1. Just say no to a player who would be on his fourth team in four years.

2. Just say no to a player who plays for three teams in one season.

Because any negative news must be falsified somehow. Just like with Dez and plenty of other players.

You take the good with the bad.

If he's a distraction. Cut him. He's cheap now.

If he performs. He's a HUGE weapon on offense. Not the main 2-headed combo in Dez and Austin but come on. Dez,Austin,Robinson,Owens in a 4 wideout on a 3rd and long?

Low risk, medium reward. Plus one for the 'boys.

I'd rather have Witten on the field.

If he is a distraction? More accurately it would be when he becomes a distraction. He would not want to be the #3 WR on the team or the 4th option. It would not take long at all before he became a distraction. I also doubt he would take a vet minimum contract. You wouldn't have to break the bank for him, but he isn't signing for peanuts. Not worth the risk. Plus it would take several games for him to get up to speed with any offense, even one he is familiar with. No, thanks.

Don't think we need TO here with our WR roster, but the guy is always in phenomenal shape, anyone sitting on a stable full of canners should take a shot at improving their lot.

Im really against signing him because having him and Dez Bryant might be an problem. The only way I see Cowboys signing Terrell Owens if he agrees to not bicker if he don't get as many looks as he would like and he's willing to play for a small portion of money and try to contend for a superbowl. That's the only way I see Cowboys getting Terrell Owens.

It must be re-emphasized what the OP stated at the beginning:

This is a hypothetical.

Terrell Owens will never suit up as a Dallas Cowboy ever again.

Some may think it is a good idea or attribute some level of worth which he could add to the present receivers or that he deserves a second chance, etc., etc.

None of it matters. Owens played a few seasons here. That's all that there ever will be.

Let's get him. And while we're at it, let's sign Drew Pearson and Michael Irvin.

They used to be good, too.

LOL, people just don't understand that TO is a below average receiver at this point in his life.

It would not matter if he was the Owens of 2003 or the Owens of 2006. He did his time here. There will not be a repeat.

It's bad enough that Owens did enough unnecessary nonsense when he was here. That should be sufficient for anyone to say that he will not return, but people do not acknowledge that Jerry Jones does not have a history of re-signing star players he has previously kicked to the curb.

His prior situation does not resemble anything like Dallas churning its roster when he was waived. He was let go. He was terminated. He was expelled. He was pink-slipped. He was told, "Don't ever call us and we won't be calling you back." Nothing against the OP, but this was a thread which unintentionally motivates non-hypothetical opinions which are already D.O.A.

My how times have changed! At one point you were T.O.'s biggest fan while he was with the Cowboys.
