I think he should go and just hand the ball to the ref on the first one... not sure if he will

I think its only a matter of time until he runs out to the star... maybe kneels down on is this time(tribute to Emmitt)... he did say he would embrace it like Emmitt did....

any thoughts?

In the preseason nothing. He will not do the star thing until a national game where he will get the most attention.

On his song he does say "gonna get my eagle on, meet me at the star"

...not really sure what that means

Only thing that matters to me is the TD not the comical act afterwards. When Dwight Clark made the catch I don't remember him acting like a fool yet the play will always be remembered. Same goes for many other big catches for TD's, can anyone remember what Drew Pearson did after the Hail Mary to beat Minn in the playoffs? Didn't think so the play said it all. Too bad many can't understand that.

No question, one of his celebrations will be "On the Star". Who knows what he'll do, but I think it will be something simple and not outrageous. I mean, he'll be costing the Boys 15 yards if he does something stupid and I'm sure Parcells will say something to him about it.

Oh yeah, I do remember. He just waltzed into the endzone with a sheepish look on his face kind of waiting to see if a flag was going to be thrown.

Not suggesting there should have been a penalty, nor that it would be on Pearson. He just had that look about him and of course the defender (Nate someone if memory serves) started whining soon after.

The the whiskey flask hit the ref.

Yet that has nothing to do with Pearson and his actions, he caught the ball and went to the sidelines. The catch and TD says it all no need for anything else. Again it is too bad the antics become the entertainment instead of the act of making the play. I'm a football fan I enjoy the game of football not a re-run of dancing with the stars. Each to their own I guess.

the bigger question is, whats Bill Parcells gonna do if TO runs out on the star and gets a penalty?

Why is this even a question? Monday Night, national TV, arch rival Commanders. He will run to midfield and do his star thing.

Drew caught the ball on his hip and just sort of sidestepped into the endzone with the ball still there. He then held it up and hurled it into the stands. About that time Robert Newhouse and Company mobbed him.

Would kneeling down on the star be a penalty? Is it considered excess celebration?

Well, the game better be well in hand before he does that. It will be considered a penalty, and knowing Taglibue (being a Commanders fan) will probably have him ejected or suspended as well.

Then we will see a TO rule somewhere down the line. Like so many rules which have been put in place against the Cowboys, that seem only are called on us.

I know my response missed the mark of this thread but I just can't help reliving the Hail Mary when its brought up. :)

And yeah, its definitely about the game and not about the TD celebration though I will give props to a few players along the way who have demonstrated some creativity in their coreography.

White Shoes dancing...
Emmitt Thomas high-step...
Earnest Givens shakin...
The player/team who would "roll the dice" for seven...

None of the above were offensive to me. Kind of made me chuckle.

Also worth mentioning are the celebrations that come back to bite.

Godwin Turk who dislocated his shoulder with an overly enthusiastic spike (hilarious!)...
Martin Gramatica's sprained knee as a result of his ridiculous celebrations...

And lastly I always though Billy Joe DuPree looked like an idiot doing his little over the shoulder spike. The guy is what, 6'6" of power? and he chooses this cutesy little finesse move as his trademark celebration. Poor choice.

Yes, I think he might. I suggested this shorlty after he signed. Just keep his first few TD's nice and quiet, business like. Just to add fuel to the fire on any speculation of when and what he will do.

For his first home TD I could see him trying to win fans over by going to the Star getting down on both knees and praising it.

You can't eject a player for a celebration like that
