I agree with you doomsday but dont you think it makes the game alot more fun to watch. I dont care about them promoting themselves because regardless if its during the game or after they will do it and we can just watch. It also isnt up to us to critisize them for doing this because we arent the one paying him to catch the football. I also dont see how they may act immature about it. I think its a good thing to see them having fun out there because I want them to have fun not be all too serious. I am always excited about the upcoming seasons regardless if we have a showboat on our team or not. If he catches his first touchdown and celebrates his way thats not being selfish because if bledsoe runs for a touchdown and he celebrates his way its no different. Remember the rule is they cant celebrate in the endzone as a team.

Dallas has had their share and I hold nothing against them and as long as they keep it within reason and are not costing the team then go for it. In the end my only concern was the TD not the dance afterwards which is why I brought up Pearson catch of the Hail Mary, Clark with the catch or Franco Harris with the immaculate reception. Most remember the catch and the play not some dance in the end zone afterwards the great play is remembered. I would hate to be a player who gets remembered because of some stupid dance like Billy White Shoes Johnson, anytime people talk about him it was because of his dance nothing more. As Emmitt once said, act like you have been there before.

That's why you see linemen celebrate, quarterbacks pump their fists, defensive linemen celebrate after a great play... It's fun... Have you ever played sports at all? To me, when you make a pressure catch over a great defender and score in a crutial part of the game, the excitement that comes afterwards is unbelievable. I may get up and do giggle or something like that, so what?

Just because you don't like it, it's bad. What makes it bad? If you want to talk about the integrity of the game and oldfolks junk like that, then go ahead. But the last I checked, things change dude.. You can't keep living in the 40's and 50's.

The sport is changing. I don't agree with the celebrations that take too long to complete, or that include props like cell phones and stuff like that, EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT HURTING ANYONE. I can guarantee you, Sportscenter/fans/the world will tune in the whenever TO makes a touchdown and guess why? To see what he's going to do.. So relax a bit dude, and just enjoy and have fun, and don't be such a celebration grinch.

I played football from Pop Warner through college and I agree spontaneous emotion is great. I understand and accept changes however the NFL runs things and have done a good enough job that the NFL is the most popular sports in America and according to them they want the celebration put in check and I agree with them. Let me add just because many want to see it does not mean everyone does. I can guarantee you if the NFL put in the same rules the NCAA does on celebration football fans would still watch the NFL. We do so because the best that college can offer is playing in it, not because of some stupid dance move that some idiot stayed up all night practicing how fricken silly is that?

Owens is what he is and what he always will be. 'Sportmanlike character' isn't in his vocabulary. So, the better question is how often he will do something and what sort of (totally) unnecessary penalties will he draw against this team?

Is there a record for the number of 15 yard penalties accessed because of a single player during the regular season?

If Owens is truly sincere about Cowboy fans 'forgiving' him, he will leave his bag of tricks outside of Texas Stadium. Even though the other teams' fans don't deserve it also, he could restrain (yeah, like that'll ever happen! :lmao2: ) himself until he could play his WWE/RAW/ECW nonsense within someone else's stadium. If he wants to start somewhere, he can vomit his 'delightful' personality in the middle of Lincoln Financial Field on October 8th. That would certainly fit his m.o.

...nah. Even the Reidglets don't deserve his imbecility.

And why did race peek it's ugly little head in this thread? I'm black and I extremely dislikes me some T.O. All I want from him is to fulfill his contract with the least amount of drama as possible. NO drama would be preferable. That's it. So...

"Gratuitous amounts of Owens touchdowns and yards" = GOOD! :)

"Large helpings of Owens loving himself" = BAD!

Yeah, that's a pipe dream alright. :banghead:

He gets a penalty.

Bill and Jerry expect this to happen.

Jerry might even demand something overthetop for that first one.

TO has to "eat" (the limelight), our star has to shine. I believe it's a forgone conclussion that many penalties could be had during the course of this upcoming season and that very few will get upset about it unless those 15 yards start effecting the outcomes of games. Our defense is just going to have to be a little better. On the plus side, hopefully we won't be punting quite as much this year and everything will just balance out.

I think he should go and just hand the ball to the ref on the first one... not sure if he will

I think its only a matter of time until he runs out to the star... maybe kneels down on is this time(tribute to Emmitt)... he did say he would embrace it like Emmitt did....

any thoughts?
He'll chest bump Romo for the great pass.:D

Purposely committing any penalties is bad football.

I bet he gets flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct whatever the hell he does. The NFL is cracking down on all that nonsense this season. This isn't dancing with the stars.

No question, one of his celebrations will be "On the Star". Who knows what he'll do, but I think it will be something simple and not outrageous. I mean, he'll be costing the Boys 15 yards if he does something stupid and I'm sure Parcells will say something to him about it.

I'm more interested in what he does on the Eagle, Commander and Giants logos. For the Eagles, I would get some big brown cow pies and squat and act like I'm taking a crap. Eagles nation would be beside themselves :D
