Good list. But you forgot Johnnie Jefferson, who had the best hands and was the most acrobatic receiver to put on a NFL uniform.

other than bambi...

andre reed
mike quick
mark duper

i could go on and on..

i wish many on here could have seen cliff branch play football.

I am sure if some tried they could make a list of 100 before TO even gets on the list ;)

Jerry Rice, Cris Carter, Marvin Harrison, Michael Irvin, Tim Brown, Randy Moss, Andre Reed, Steve Largent, Lynn Swan, Art Monk

just of the top of my head and there in no order

Tim Brown?
Cris Carter?
Marvin Harrison?

Are we talking merely Pro Bowl or real honest-to-goodness HOFers?
The latter being WRs like Rice/Swan/Hayes/Irvin.

Ah the days when the Raiders had both the fastest, Cliff and the slowest, Fred receivers in pro football.

At what point does the distraction that TO brings enter into it? Because I have no problem saying that TO is a better receiver than Art Monk, and I absolutely love Art Monk and believe he should have made it to the Hall years ago. But of course Monk never would have caused any distractions or demanded the ball. So, I guess I'm wondering if TO's superior abilities and stats overcome his deficiencies as a teammate?

/just because I'm a Commanders fan, I have to emphasize again that I love Art Monk and everything he did and stands for.

Wow, there are some youngsters here who need to do some research.

Tim Brown was a great player. Probably not as prolific as T.O. but he did win the Heisman Trophy and managed to catch 1000 balls in the NFL.
Cliff Branch...yeah, I saw him play...awesome... probably not top 10 alltime though.
Of course, noone worked harder than the Playmaker.
Jerry Rice...Jesus in cleats.
Raymond Berry...before my time, but read up on the guy...definitely needs mentioned.
Marvin Harrison... if you wanna talk numbers, yeah he's on the list.
Randy Moss...everyone, including Rice thought Moss was the only one with a chance to be like Rice for a long time.
Don Hutson...99tds in the 1940s-50s...amazing.
Andre Reed was the primary WR in the Kelly Gun offense that led to 4 straight SB losses.
If you are going to mention Art Monk, you have to include Don Maynard, Steve Largent and Charlie Joiner... all four retired as all-time catch leaders.
Roy Green was great in the 80s...not top 10 though.
Torry Holt was mentioned...How 'bout Isaac Bruce?
The Marks Brothers...Super Duper & Clayton were fun to watch... Clayton and Marino are one of the greatest TD combos of all time.
Hey, don't forget James Lofton... that dude was a great deep threat.
Of course, Bob Hayes, who forced the invention of zone defenses.
Cris Carter... don't like him but he should be on the list.
Always liked Anthony Carter, mostly from the USFL days.
Wes Chandler made some unbelivable catches....never saw T.O. make'em like that.

Yeah, I can see T.O. arguably in the top ten... but its not a given.
This was fun... brought back memories... great thread.

How 'bout Isaac Bruce?
My only problem with Bruce is he never really dominated after his 95 season. He had an all time year as far as yards and receptions. But afterwards, he's had a bunch of good seasons and not really any great ones. Since 95, he's only had atleast 10 TDs in a season once(99), only went over 1300 yards once(00), and hasnt 90 receptions in a season. Keep in mind in his prime, he played 16 games in all but 03(missed 1 gm) and 97(4) and 98(11).

Numbers shouldnt count for everything, as is my point with Smith, but they have to count for something and Bruce and Holt will always be compared and in that comparison, Holt was "Great" alot more than Bruce was.

4 real.

btw, hot sig there! iLove me some Halle.

Once Fitzgerald cracks the top 10, he will catapult to the top three.

Owens has speed and size but his hands are HORRIBLE.

Long enough to know that those guys were great in their era, but TO has more talent in his left leg than them.

The only thing we have to judge by is what they were in their era...

I wonder how you define "talent". If the ability to catch the ball is part of talent, Owens isn't a top 100 WR.

Given your perspective, I guess Jim Brown wouldn't be a top ten all time running back.

Randy Moss has more "talent" than Jerry Rice.

However, Jerry Rice was a better "Wide Reciever".

agreed, plus T.O's catching issues have really been the last 3 years, he had pretty good hands his entire career.

I think Wayne McGaritty could challenge TO for the #99 spot :laugh2:

All Hail Halle!
