Guess he is now a Street Taco
Giants run a version of the 3-4 I think, so I don't believe Taco fits there.
I see the Seahawks, Raiders, Colts, and maybe the Lions kicking the tires on the Taco.
Kavika Pittman...We didn't learn then...and then repeated the mistake with Taco.I think it is easy to blame the FO for this (and they certainly deserve the lionshare of it) but the pick was doomed. We wanted Takk McKinley and got scooped. We drafted for need and got burned (as you often do in drafting for need).
The TJ Watt comparisons aren't entirely unfair though it is questionable whether he would have succeeded here.
I don't think this qualifies as "biggest bust" ever though. Some folks don't seem to remember some of the Jerry drafts of old. I've seen Shante Carver mentioned here. Same with David Lafleur and Ebenezer Ekuban (who we traded up for!) and obviously Bobby Carpenter.
How about, Hot Mess?!Silver lining! I like it!
How about, Hot Mess?!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane, but the Cowboys were nowhere near close to drafting Gonzalez unless they gave up a boat load of picks.https://www.cantonrep.com/sports/20...y-trade-for-tony-gonzalez-paid-off-in-big-way
“It wasn’t disastrous,” Peterson said of the swap. “And we wanted Tony. We made the move during the draft when we got closer to the 13th pick so there wasn’t a lot of time left to give the Cowboys a chance to counter-move.”
Not wanting to miss out on their second option, the Cowboys traded up with the Eagles at No. 22 to take LSU TE David LaFleur, who had also impressed Aikman during a pre-draft workout. After the Chiefs moved up to grab Gonzalez, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones tried to cover his tracks by telling the media, “Troy wanted David LaFleur.”
“So everyone here in Dallas thinks I picked David LaFleur over Tony Gonzalez,” Aikman later told Grantland, explaining that he had merely been on board with LaFleur if that was the pick. “That couldn’t be further from the truth. They never asked me, ‘Which one do you want?’
“And then Tony went on to do what he did.”
It had to be an attitude thing.
I would be surprised if that doesn't have something to do with it. I'm sure you recall the team held Taco out of a game or two last year for some kind of violation of team rules. If Adam Redmond and Brandon Knight are still on the roster and Taco is gone, this is purely about Taco cutting himself from the team.
Tell yourself whatever you need to in order to feel better.
I feel pretty good, so I'm not worried about feeling better. Thanks for the permission though, misguided as it is. Those that expect perfection in the draft process are the ones that end up feeling bad.
bye...wonder which team picks him up?
The front office is usually so loose lipped, I'm surprised they haven't slipped the real reason he's been in the dog house and now released. I want to know specifics
