According to Matt Mosley, Tank's got a hotel room courtesy of Dallas. Chances are he'll have a contract pretty soon, I'd say. Are we happy about this? I kind of am, actually, which is odd since I'm not really a Tank fan.

Jerry will faint when he sees the room service and minibar bill.

I really doubt Jerry will bring Tank in unless Wade Phillips completely in favor or it. I also think Jerry is just getting an oar in the water with Tank if we decide we need him. Will be interesting to see what kind of physical shape he's in & exactly which position Cowboys thinking of using him.

They are bringing him for a lookiie basically have the doctors take a look at him and be interviewed by the team. i imagine what Hill's staff says will be most important.

Its not out of the realm of possibility that he gets signed by tomorrow. Id put the odds at 60-40 that he gets signed. Theres just too much interest lately and if he checks out I see it happening.

I would have assumed that Dallas would have put him up for the night no matter what, wouldn't they? Wouldn't they even pay his travel expenses for the flight, etc? That's the way it works in a lot of businesses...I don't think this necessarily means that a contract is imminent.

Regardless, I still don't see a huge downside to looking into this.

Whoa hold your horses.. There won't be any contract talks that quick.

I dont think he is in town to give a symposium on being a good citizen and contributing to society.

I think maybe one thing Jerry learned, or Jeff Ireland learned from parcells is to never give up on good players or high picks that get cut for various reasons.

If we do sign him, we hold all the power the contract can be almost game to game essentially and if he screws up you run his behind out first thing, if not you get a 25 year old tackle with good size and good ability.

I am not sure how much he can contribute to the team this year though, you cant not particiapte in football from january, go to jail and then come back and play in november without a price. If anything we could hope for some plays in a rotation this year and next year maybe him helping this team on a bigger scale.

by the way I believe he would be able to play november 4th at Philly.

I also thought I remembered jeff ireland saying recently that he is a guy they put in a box...meaning undraftable on their big board a few years ago?

I'll accept him if he signs with us a root for him big time. But I have a bad feeling. It's not so much a penalty on him if he screws up again I'm worried about. JJ would definitely structure the contract to accommodate that and protect our salary cap. I'm just wondering what kind of penalty would be leveled on the team, if any.

Just because he has a room that the Cowboys have paid for doesn't mean a contract is imminent. It does mean that the Cowboys have interest. That's not really news. Reports have been saying that Johnson's agent has been in contact with the Cowboys since Tank was cut by the Bears (long before the injury to Fergueson).

The Cowboys are dipping their toes and probably looking at contract parameters. Keep in mind that there are also character issues with the kid. I'm sure the Cowboys want a face to face to determine whether or not he is worth the risk (along with taking a look at his physical shape and pore over his workout strategy).

What are the odds that a guy named Tank, who's been out of the game for months, is in great shape?

He's been training in Arizona at one of those newfangled training facilities.
