and not nay here. Like others have said: this is his last chance and he knows it. I'm also in agreement that he comes back for the last 4 or 5 games of the season. He'll need to get into football shape. Lots of upside to this move. Not much downside really. If he screws up again, just cut him and we won't lose much money. Better get it done before the midget in D.C. swoops in and outbids us.

I am all for this move. However, I wanted us to draft Antonio Bryant too. Truth is, minimum deal = low risk. He has to stay clean or he won't be in the NFL. He can turn his career around or be the next Leon Lett.

I'll accept him if he signs with us a root for him big time. But I have a bad feeling. It's not so much a penalty on him if he screws up again I'm worried about. JJ would definitely structure the contract to accommodate that and protect our salary cap. I'm just wondering what kind of penalty would be leveled on the team, if any.

I don't think any kind of penalty will be levied on the team if Tank Johnson is the ONLY player that gets in trouble. When penalties are going to be levied against teams is when they have multiple players get in trouble with the law.

Jerry will faint when he sees the room service and minibar bill.

..rolls of quarters he's gotten from the front desk to play the Video games downstairs in the KidZone where the shootem' ups are.

Got to get that stuff out of the system legally now.

OOPs.

Maybe plastic guns and video shooting games are on his 'no-no' probation list.

Never mind.

make the contract similar to TO - were it is basically a bunch of one-year contracts. The contract should be structured that if Tank becomes a problem Dallas can cut him with minimal financial burden.

Its funny how almost everyone in here said NO WAY to Tank initially and expressed that Jerry WOULD NEVER sign him....and that WE DONT need him...

I hate being right....

Yeah you were spot on about ND and their new QB.

None of this talk would have been necessary if we had used some of our wasted draft picks, (can anyone say Skylar Green?), on a couple of quality NTs. Please don't mention the 6th or 7th rd. pick used for M. Stanley. You don't get quality on purpose unless you do it in the first 4 rds. Notice I said on purpose.
All teams have gotten lucky with low picks or UFAs, but I'm talking strategy.

Jimmy is still the truth...

I never said ND would be good. After the first game I thought they might win 4 games..

When Jimmy is a Junior and their youth gets wiser... Jimmy will wake up the echos...

I rewatched the game last night again and Spears is becoming a pure bust IMO. At this point bringing in Tank he may play DE and then Spears becomes trade bait next year or something, but he is not even close to a round 1 talent.

I see Tank getting used like Ratliff...play both NT or DE...

I expect Tank may play some DE -- actually, I can see him playing role we had planned for Ratliff -- backing up at DE and DT.

The guy is a turd but he has impressed the commish with his "plan" to change his life.

This would be a risky signing -- but the potential reward is very high. Tank is a very good D-lineman.

Someone has to be cut if we sign Tank....

I'd be more than shocked if we didn't have some roster space after week 8.

Even Tank shows to be a better NT...then that means we move Ratlif back to DE...bye bye Spears. Can you tell i'm down on Spears now... :)

Report: Cowboys to bring in Tank Johnson for physical

Irving, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Cowboys will reportedly bring in suspended defensive tackle Tank Johnson for a physical on Tuesday.
According to the Dallas Morning News, citing multiple sources, the Cowboys would like to sign the troubled Johnson for added depth along their defensive line. Dallas starting nose tackle Jason Ferguson is out for the year after tearing his right biceps muscle in the opening game of the season.
Johnson, who is serving the third week of an eight-game suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy, was released by the Chicago Bears in June.
Johnson was sentenced to 120 days in jail on March 15 for violating probation from a gun charge in 2005. He was released on good behavior after serving half of the sentence.
Last December, Johnson was arrested on misdemeanor weapons charges after police raided his home and found several guns. The raid resulted in six misdemeanor counts of possession of a firearm without a firearm owner's ID card.
The three-year pro out of Washington is eligible to return from his suspension after Week 8, and if he signs with Dallas, he could play against the Philadelphia Eagles on November 4.
Originally a second-round pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, Johnson posted 26 tackles and 3 1/2 sacks in 14 regular-season games last year, helping the Bears to the Super Bowl. He has 63 tackles and nine sacks for his career.
