It takes two to tango.

Furthermore, consider these things.

1. Before the deadline, we only hoped we had a capable runner in Murray.
2. Choice is a FA after this year, teams wouldn't pay much for him.
3. This also means that only teams in dire need of a RB would pay anything for him.
4. Whatever they offered must not have been worth the risk of not knowing what you had in Murray, with an injured Felix.

Yes I know all of that. Just seems to happen too often lately.

Common sense tell you if you don't know what the offer was or if there even was a real one, you have know idea if it should have been taken. If there was a good one, of course we should have taken it. Unless someone can prove what was seriously offered and that JJ alone chose to turn it down, comments like we need a real GM are just empty whining.
Detroit offered Bobby Carpenter.

Everyone feel better now?

I am just kidding.

Everybody keeps saying this......it's getting old.

2 kickers can come in handy....David B is a weapon on kickoffs...and Bailey is a weapon on Fg's....kickoffs is not his speciality...especially with the climate changing and probably bad weather to come..its's best to keep him fresh for FG's

and if need be..if we ever have to kick a 60 yard FG....i don't bailey has the leg strength to, but David B could

It wasn't a shot at him being a kicker, more of a question about being a dual role player, like White in 80's. He is fairly fast, has good strength, has a GREAT killer attitude on the field, isnt afraid to hit or get hit. With the right coach he could probably get pretty good at covering a TE in dime situations plus he is an added tackler on the KO team unlike most of the 31 other teams, that's all I was thinking.

But you also have to consider the timeline here. Do you think if Miles weren't to have a break out game against the Chiefs we would have gotten rid of RW? Sometimes you have to have players step up and prove they can do what your veterans were doing before you let go of another player.

You have to have players step up and show they can replace Tashard Choice? What a huge hole to fill there.

Last I checked a GM is supposed to have talent evaluation skills. A real one, that is. Use them and make prudent personnel decisions before even every Tom, Dick and Harry with Sunday Ticket knows it's a no brainer.

I knew Murray could give us a decent option other than Felix at that time. Why didn't the General Manager?

Bottom line, you would get more for Choice than you would for David Buehler. David Buehler would not start for another team in the NFL.

Can't argue with that. He's a waste of space on the roster.

You don't even know if there were trade offers or what they were. What if the offer was a player and they wanted us to trade Choice and one of our future picks? The trade offer might not have been one we thought improved us compared to keeping Choice.

Yes that is always the case, we never know what is behind the deal.
Just like everyone keeps bringing up about the supposedly 1st round offer the Bengals offerered for Bennett.
Well I may be one of the few that think Marty B is worth keeping. But we do not know all nuances behind that alledged offer.

He didn't provide anything. A couple of decent games here and there but that's it.

Thanks for nothing Choice good riddance.

Happens to other teams too. Never lament for them either.

There are cap implications with trades. Sometimes it is simply better to cut the umbilical cord. I wanted Choice gone the second he went out of bounds and saved Washington a timeout.

The recent fumbling only made it worse. This move doesn't bother me, and some reported trade that we turned down isn't going to wad my panties up.

But by all means, let yours get wadded up so you feel better about the taste in your mouth. I never liked bile personally.

You're not telling me anything I don't know. The Cowboys make a move, you support it. You're like a parrot in Jerry's office.

I'm about maximizing your value. It's a GM's job to do it. Something is better than nothing and Jerry once again failed at it.

Another brilliant move by JJ....not trading him to get a late round draft pick. So they wait and cut him instead....

IF there was a chance to trade him...could be just Jerry speak.

What late round pick were we offered?

I love what Buehler could be and think it would be great if we can give him one more year to see if he can be an 80+% FG kicker. However, when we're talking about the difference of potentially cutting a very good special teams player who has stepped up in games like Holley to keep Buehler, I'm not so sure.

He would not have made a difference in any of the games he's missed so far. But you are correct that a windy, snowy game may prove his worth. Time will tell.

I never understood that mindset anyway. He's not a Cowboy anymore. Why the heck would I want him to go on and prove that releasing him was a bad move?

No. I hope his career fizzles out in short order.

I wanted to reword my post so I deleted it. I just can't get over the fact we are still letting David Buehler take up a roster spot. It's almost a Tim Tebow like effect. I appreciate the fact he will put a lick on someone, but if your kicker is making tackles your ST sucks anyway. This dude is not worth a roster spot. Trade Choice for anything you can get, or don't lie to the media about getting offers for him. Cut David Buehler on a Saturday 30 mins before the team flies to Philly, not Choice. He didn't deserve to go out like that.

This whole thing seems like a dick move to me. Not that I don't agree Choice needed to go.

Ah, the old "unless you know the exact terms of the trades they weren't really offered" defense.

Outstanding.

Yeah, he's really loved the fact that Jerry wants to keep two kickers.
