You have to have players step up and show they can replace Tashard Choice? What a huge hole to fill there.

Last I checked a GM is supposed to have talent evaluation skills. A real one, that is. Use them and make prudent personnel decisions before even every Tom, Dick and Harry with Sunday Ticket knows it's a no brainer.

He is gone now, that says a lot if you ask me. JJ hasn't always had the right answers, but I think he is finally beginning to listen more. Could we have gotten some late round pick for him? Maybe, maybe not. I don't even know. What I do know is, with your starting RB injured and two wet behind the ear RB's, you'd think you would like to see them actually perform adequately in a game before you're comfortable getting rid of one who has been around a few years now.

I think the fumbles and stupid play by Choice was just the needle on the haystack.

I wanted to reword my post so I deleted it. I just can't get over the fact we are still letting David Buehler take up a roster spot. It's almost a Tim Tebow like effect. I appreciate the fact he will put a lick on someone, but if your kicker is making tackles your ST sucks anyway. This dude is not worth a roster spot. Trade Choice for anything you can get, or don't lie to the media about getting offers for him. Cut David Buehler on a Saturday 30 mins before the team flies to Philly, not Choice. He didn't deserve to go out like that.

This whole thing seems like a dick move to me. Not that I don't agree Choice needed to go.

Both Choice and Buehler needed to go long before now. Put Martellus Bennett on that list too.

Ah, the old "unless you know the exact terms of the trades they weren't really offered" defense.

Outstanding.

Ah, the old "we heard something in the press, so we know exactly what's going on" argument.

Oustanding.

That's right. I'm smart enough to know you could have gotten something for Choice in trade. I don't need to read the fake GM's comments about getting calls. I already know he got those calls. Just like I know he's been offered something for Martellus Bennett as well.

He's just not a real GM. If you guys want to pretend he is, by all means, have at it. The guy is just winging it fantasy football style.

In response to some posts in this thread, the Choice trade "rumors" weren't just media rumors. Jerry himself said he'd taken calls from teams regarding Choice.

Now maybe he was lying to drum up interest, but it wasn't just blog chatter.

Buehler has more value to the team than Choice or even Holley. When healthy, Buehler provides utility as our kickoff specialist which is an underappreciated asset. Further, he also plays on special teams' coverage units.

Choice was a backup running back on this squad.

You're not telling me anything I don't know. The Cowboys make a move, you support it. You're like a parrot in Jerry's office.
Yeah, except that isn't true. I can give you examples if you need an education. Or you can continue to believe a bunch of crap. Your call.

I'm about maximizing your value. It's a GM's job to do it. Something is better than nothing and Jerry once again failed at it.
Without knowing what was offered, and none of us do, if anything was (it could have been a ploy to try and drum up interest), tell me how we have missed maximum value. Wow me.

Uh, what? He plays on kickoff coverage units? So does every other kicker. The term 'kickoff specialist' will always make me lol. Bailey is our kicker.

That may be so, but you put about as much faith in it as you can this comment.

Jerry Jones Sunday afternoon: “We have no plans to trade for a receiver before the trading deadline.” No plans? So it’s not going to happen? “No,” he said. “No trade for a receiver.” The deadline is a week from tomorrow. Detroit, looks like you’re going to have to swallow Roy Williams in this lost season, or find someone else from which to get a low first-rounder or high two.

I think had Felix not been injured Dallas may have been able to get something for Choice but I don't blame Garrett for seeing how 2 rookies would do in a game before I release the only vet in the backfield. I think it was just bad timing on the Felix injury and the coaches had to prepare for the worst and hope for the best

]I can't exactly explain their love affair with Buehler given how Bailey has performed so far[/B]. What I can say, is that I think JG may of been wanting to get rid of TC for a while now and finally was able to do it.

But how much can we fault Buehler? Sure he doesn't seem to be the answer at FG's, but this team has shown it was willing to carry two kickers, one for blasting the ball on kickoffs and one for FG's. I do think that Buehler won't be around next year.

IIRC Bailey was never that great at kickoff's he just began getting decent....

now let's factor in a game where the wind is heavy...and it's cold as an ice cube outside. We might be calling for bailey's head

I was with you until the Bennett part...Yes, he's far from the receiving threat we would hope for from an athletic, 6'7" TE, but his blocking is great. He's like having an extra lineman out there. The problem with Bennett is that he is one dimensional and plays a two-dimensional position, but he is really good at his primary responsibility.

I seriously doubt he will be re-signed after this season, but he is definitely contributing and making a difference, unlike Choice and Beuhler.

It wasn't a shot at him being a kicker, more of a question about being a dual role player, like White in 80's. He is fairly fast, has good strength, has a GREAT killer attitude on the field, isnt afraid to hit or get hit. With the right coach he could probably get pretty good at covering a TE in dime situations plus he is an added tackler on the KO team unlike most of the 31 other teams, that's all I was thinking.

Covering the TE? lol you are joking?

I agree David B is a very athletic Kicker..but i don't think he could ever cover a TE
