TE: OJ Howard available

Guess that's why he's a healthy scratch today. I'd imagine the Patriots if they didn't already trade away their 2nd

I don’t know about giving a 2nd for a guy you then have to sign
He’s a tremendous athlete but his best season was close to what jarwin did last season and he missed a few games

howard is a not good run blocker. as we have seen if the tightends cannot block great then there playing time is limited. look at jarwin if he blocked better he would be starting instead of witten.

No doubt we'd have to re-sign him. Maybe a sign and trade? Im not sure you get him for much less due to talent level and draft capital invested.

This season is nore an indictment on his coach than anyone else imo. I dont believe Arians has ever featured or even had strong TE production. In his defense he has Evans and Godwin dominating the ball. OJ needs a change of scenery.
Man considering the money we're about to give Dak and Amari, tight end is a position where it'd be best to address in the draft so we get 5 years of relatively cheap control.

You're right. Its a pipe dream, even more fat fetched than Earl Thomas.

You would know better than me. I do know that OJ is in the 99th percentile for his athletic abilities. Hes one of the measurably best TEs to come out ever. That said, he will also need to be paid and thats probably the biggest concern.
Based on his production, his pay should be relatively cheap. He's not close to playing at an elite level yet.

That's a little much considering he's only under contract for one more season.
2020 and then 5th year option for 2021.

So a 2nd for 2 1/2 years of Howard. I think we will be drafting in a similar range as last year. Pick 58 for 2.5 years of Howard is worth it for me.

Howard was a first round pick and it’s hard for me to wrap my mind around why they haven’t tried to really get him involved as a weapon in the game. Why spend the pick and have the talent if you won’t actually use him?

That sounds reasonable. Again, why aren’t they trying to use him?

Naw he's not worth a second. HE's done nothing to this point. I never understood why they drafted him anyway with Cameron Brate and then give him big money. Howard has great potential but he seems to be hurt and has yet to hit his potential.

The landscape of the nfl is changing. No longer are draft picks sacrosanct like before. Short term rebuilds are the rage now. Long term rebuilds get GM's fired in today's nfl. Not out gm, but all the rest. Plus no comp picks with trades.

Actually Peter King wrote a piece where a couple of GMs were saying the same thing.......a new progressive and bold generation of young GMs are not afraid to take a risk on PROVEN players vs rookies they have to wait a few years for impact .
