Minn still owns his rights and is not going to let him walk for nothing. They may choose to trade him if he does not want to be in Minn

Wrong...No one is going to trade for his remaining contract period. Minn may release him but teams aren't stupid.
Dallas will have an inside track to sign him if he is released and willing to play for a "home town" discount.

doubt they trade for a 13M salary.

Say it louder please. It's like people forget about the Cap and shift into Fantasy Football mode. If Adrian Peterson is a Dallas Cowboy next year, and that is a big IF at this point, it will be because the Vikings wanted the money off the their Cap and we signed him as a Free Agent. I seriously, seriously doubt we would make a trade for him. It doesn't make financial sense.

On come on Randle for Murray? I don't think Minn is that stupid. AP had 1,266 yards in 2013 a big slide in terms of his production and those 2 years do mean something. I see this as a butt in the seats move yes fans will love it AP is coming home but he is still an older back on the downhill side of his career. It has been moves like this that has hurt Dallas not helped them. I flattered he wants to come to Dallas but no way would I give up anything to get him.

As I said, if Minnesota knows it's going to release him anyway, the Vikings are not dealing from a position of strength. Is it not better to get a backup running back who averaged 6.7 yards per carry last year and might could start instead of nothing?

I don't think the Vikings would go into this expecting someone to give them a first-round pick at this point in Peterson's career. At most, they would be expecting something like what the Patriots paid for Randy Moss.

You can say this is a "butt in the seats move," but I believe Peterson is still a better back than Murray and if the price is right (less than what Murray wants), then I see this as a move Dallas could make to maintain its running game for the next year or two while not committing as much money to it.

If the price is equal to what Murray wants, I'd probably go with Murray because he has less wear and tear and possibly more years remaining on his career. However, he also has missed games because of injury every year but 2014 and has the fumble issues.

And AP does not hold the cards he is under contract and him crying is not going to change anything. Fact is the more he crys the more I don't want him in Dallas

We can renegotiate the contract before trading for him. That's part of the reason you consider trading for him because it essentially gives you exclusive negotiating rights.

Again, there's no way I would give up much for those rights, but the Vikings aren't really in position to ask for much.

yet had 2,000 before? lol He is on the downhill side why the hell would I want an older back who already has shown his numbers are going down significantly?

And we do not even know what he is willing to play for in terms of a contract. People hear say 2 mill? lol yeah he is going to take 2 mill. I want what you guys are smoking.

Again, significantly from 2000+ ? He almost had more yards his last two years than Murray has had his entire career. Murray will never have another year like 2014. Never.

Right now no one can do anything he is suspended. I don't think he is better now and I think the big drop off proves it. I think he is a name and people are falling in love with a name period.

No one is gonna trade for him with that salary. I doubt also minny bites the bullet and pays most of the salary to trade him. I think they work something out and let him part ways.

1,200 is much less than 2,000 so yes I would say significantly and now he is older his numbers are not going to get better.

Okay, let's try logic in a different way. If Minnesota cuts AP right now, they will save around $2.5 M on their cap. If they designate him a June 1 cut, they will save $13 M on the Cap. I am not sure how a trade affects their cap, but in the modern NFL where Cap is King, trades are rare. I just do not believe Minny would walk away from a June 1 cut and savings if they are going to part ways.

Dallas and Minnesota can work out a deal now if they want to. The only reason for the Cowboys to go ahead and do it at this point is so they will know they have the position filled.

Again, it depends on what Murray is asking compared to what Peterson would be seeking. I believe there is risk involved in signing either player, but there's less risk healthwise with Peterson. (The risk with Peterson has more to do with being near the point where his productiveness could suddenly fall off.)

How does that work exactly? He only has $2.4 million (signing bonus) in guaranteed money remaining on his deal and it is set to be paid this year, so whether they cut him in April or June shouldn't matter, should it? The dead cap money would be $2.4 million no matter what.

I admit I'm not a cap expert and could be missing something, but just looking at his spotrac numbers, it appears to me the savings would be $13 million if they cut him at any point this year.

I'm indifferent on whether he comes to Dallas or not. But I do think Minny would release him at some point if this continues considering he's already a controversial figure after the issue last year.

So would why Minny not just cut AP after June 1, so that they can utilize the $13 million dollar savings?

They can cut one player at any time and designate him a June 1st cut.. I think we did this with Austin..
