2006 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc.
Grade: 76 | Key
Alert: None
Comment:
Newman has excellent speed, burst and athleticism. He has a second gear to close on the ball and is very smooth in transition. He has fluid hips and great recovery skills. He is a prototype turn-and-run corner who has the ability to shut down No. 1 receivers. He showed significantly more consistency and confidence in 2005 than he had the previous season. He challenged receivers and trusted his makeup speed. He has a smooth, quick plant-and-drive and closes on the ball faster than most corners. He has good ball skills and can contribute on punt returns. Newman isn't big or physical, especially against the run. He is a somewhat inconsistent open-field tackler, despite his athleticism. His technique can be a little sloppy. He sometimes relies too heavily on his tools and takes false steps or makes mistake. His durability is a little questionable. He seemed hesitant in '04 and was beaten on too many vertical routes for a player of his caliber.

According to the key, a 76 grade means he's a solid starter.

But the actual scouting report itself for Newman is seemingly referring to Newman's 2004 season as the basis of its report, while noting there was improvement in 2005. But there was nothing which actually mentioned 2006.redfog;1407922 said:you need to learn how to read they started the rating in 20004 up until NOW 2007!! Look at Ty Law's name, it states that he play for the Chiefs which was LAST SEASON. This is updated, please read carefully.
MrMom;1407914 said:correct, if you read the first paragraph this was based off the '04 season.

And he is not correct it says heading into the 2004 season.
It is Cb's from the 04 to the 06 season. Which is why for Dre Bly (14) it says DEN, and for Woodson it says GNB. They haven't updated Nate Clements yet. But these are UPDATED!
AdamJT13;1408074 said:It automatically updates the player's team. But the rankings are NOT current.
Some other rankings --
-- As I said earlier, they have Tony Parrish ranked eighth at safety.
-- They have Asante Samuel 27th at cornerback. They have Ahmad Carroll (cut by Green Bay) 36th, ahead of Nnamdi Asomugha (a Pro Bowl alternate) and Anthony Henry.
-- They have Colombo ranked 80th at tackle, behind Torrin Tucker, Rob Petitti and a bunch of other marginal backups.
-- They have Kyle Kosier rated as a tackle (ranked 100th) and Andre Gurode rated as a guard (29th). Kris Dielman, a first alternate this season, is ranked 82nd at guard.
-- Detroit's Roy Williams is rated 43rd at receiver, behind such players as Roddy White, Tyrone Calico and Robert Ferguson.
-- Romo is 46th at quarterback, behind guys like Josh McCown, Kyle Orton, Aaron Brooks, Mike McMahon, Jay Fiedler, AJ Feeley and Ken Dorsey. Romo and Drew Henson have the same rating.
-- Frank Gore is 59th at running back, behind guys such as Jim Finn, Alan Ricard, Travis Minor and Brad Hoover.
Should I go on, or is it already apparent that these are not current rankings?
