Terence Newman

exactly....Like Lito Sheppard...2 years ago....people thought he was so good cuz he had 5 ints...but never showed how many times he got burnt..or gave up a td...or how many passes were thrown out his way

After the past two weeks, it could happen again -- even though he was the worst starting cornerback in the NFL last season at shutting down opposing receivers.

tell adam what he's won johnny!!

he's won the oportunity to be the cap guy at cowboyszone.com for the next life time!!!!
:D

Week 1 vs Jags

He gave up that 30 yard pass to Wilford but can I ask you if that play could have been defended any better than he did. If the pass was were it was suppose to be and not behind Wilford Newman would had intercepted it.

WEEK 2
Shut down Moss where Madden was all over it

Week 4

Ten, he only gave up two short passes when the game was out of hand.

Week 5

gave up no catches and no yards of the 380 or whatever McNabb had

Week 6

He gave up a few minumal catches of 8 yards and under. He gave one up to Moulds for about 15 yards but he had awesome coverage again.

Week 7 vs NyG

They dont have a stand out Wr but they have very good recievers

Week 8

vs Smith on national television, he has to talk smack or something to get his name out there.

Newman is the 2000 version of Aenes Williams, it took him a bit to get considered as an elite db but most knew it before hand that he was.

I find it amazing and appalling that Newman is so overlooked. The guy is flat out one of the best corners in football. He just doesn't promote himself, so a lot of people think it's okay to overlook him. Opposing coordinators and QBs know all about him though.

Now of all the flack I have taken for my opinion I do respect this one the most. You have showed me the light and I see Newman going to the pro bowl this season. Steve Smith will be a great test but I do remember Smith getting frustrated during last years game and the second receiver doing the damage.

Great Post buddy!

Great Post buddy!

Smith was ejected because he "bumped" a ref. i think he had 2 catches for 15 some odd yards

I just wish BP would let him return punts.....I believe the reward out weighs the risk.

Let me tell you something folks.

I WOULD NOT TRADE TERRANCE NEWMAN FOR ANY OTHER CORNER IN THE LEAGUE!

Yes, I am serious!

When was the last time he gave up a TD pass? Try 2004 when he had a bad leg!

Why doesn't he have a plethera of interceptions? Because quarterbacks are afraid of throwing in his direction! Only a couple of balls get thrown in his direction each game. Most passes are to the sidelines whereas if the receiver does not catch it, no one does. Chalk it up to smart QB play.

Bailey and Hall get interceptions because quarterbacks do not give them the same respect like they do Newman!

Why didn't Deion get a bunch of picks when he was in Dallas? Because the QBs threw most of their passes in Kevin Smith's direction.

Yes, that is a Newman-Sanders comparison. I am not afraid to do that!

Terrance Newman is getting the same respect!

Open your eyes folks!

Rashean Mathis, a second rounder is better by far. Compare their numbers.

does anyone agree with the formation i suggested?

I have absolutely zero interest in lining Newman up as a WR.

We tried that over and over with Deion and it produced very little imo.

We want to put these fantastic athletes at WR and just assume it'll translate into equivalent production. Most times, it does not.

If it were all about speed & athleticism Steve Largent would not be in the HoF and Alexander Wright might have actually had a career.

I hear periodically about how Denver is going to put some plays in for Champ Bailey at WR. Blah, blah, blah. Its more novelty than anything else.

I don't mean to be so hard on your idea but I think there is much greater potential in letting REAL WR's man the position, even if they are not as glamorous.

Look at how long its even taking TO to find his productive niche in the Dallas offense - and that's his full time job.

Just to add sumthing, Newman would look identical on the field as Primtime. maybe not the same talent or wutever at all. but they do look a-like.

i wonder who had 21 when Newman was drafted? or why didnt he get it...

Supposedly Newman wanted it... But it was already taken by the legendary Derek Ross.

The same Rashean Mathis that got utterly abused by TO week 1? You can't be serious.

I need to watch that one again.

there was a play where Bledsoe overthrew TO, who had beaten Mathis horribly, if the ball was thrown just right...TD, but alas

can't remember the exact time of the game it happened though, sorry

Yeah, think it was the play that drew the 31 yd penalty.

Mathis also got beat on that first down slant on the first td drive.

But overall, I thought he aquitted himself pretty well against the 'best' receiver in the league.

I think Mathis' stock went UP overall after that game.

Of course, he's no Tnew, if that's what this thread is about, but he can play.

not saying he can't play, just yeah, that's what the thread was basically about...underrating Newman, well, it wasn't at 1st, but you know how it goes lol

TNew goes up againts Owens AND other great wrs pretty well too i haven't Mathis do that though

Newman is far from underrated on this board.

I think in general, Newman is rated fine.
