Terrance Williams preferred Romo over Dak

TWill was just another scape-goat for the “”legend” that is Dak. TWill was drafted as a big-play WR that caught the ball outside the numbers. Romo used him like he was supposed to use him. He was never a number 1, but he did his job well with a QB that used him according to his skill set.

Dak simply can’t play with WRs like that.

Too bad Romo never had a guy like Amari to play with, meaning one of the best route runners with ridiculous speed to work with. That would have been fun to see.
So you believe that T Will is no longer a cowboy because he was scapegoated by Dak?

:lmao:

Romo was just better. That's pretty damn obvious to anyone with a real clue.

Romo never had a 2023 roster. I hate these debates. But if Dak can't get it done this year, the debate is over

Still, false delimma fallacies are for morons.

What he said is basic math. Romo was a 9 year veteran at the time and would change the idiotic calls from the sideline so of course he prefers that. Dak didn't have that ability yet coming in as a rookie trying to earn a spot, he did everything he was told.

What he did do is stay within the offense and not taking any stupid chances playing hero ball like Romo was prone to do at that stage in his career.

It's kind of funny to sit here and watch everybody claim that Romo wins the playoff game knowing damned well the defense lost that game for us. I don't think Romo would have given us anything more than what Dak and the offense provided that day and even if he did, the defense would've just given it right back up as they did.

One of the worst catch radiuses I have ever seen in a starting WR.

I am not surprised he preferred Romo. 2016 saw TWill lost 25 targets and he was out of the league shortly after.

I came to the same conclusion even though for years I personally would have started Romo when he was ready in 2016. It was that Vikings game when Dak got exposed for just how much he was being protected/limited by design. And even that one Romo series against the Eagles, you could see just how superior Romo was at throwing the ball. But I agree Romo was one bad hit away from retirement. Broke my heart because Dak never had that kind of throwing talent.
I remember that series too. He looked like a skilled surgeon.

The series should counter any argument concerning the front office and/or Jason Garrett's 'supreme' concern for Tony Romo's health. Any injury can occur at any time regardless whether the opposing defense is composed completely of either college or Hall of Fame all-stars. The nature of football did not change during that particular singular series.

Not really. Most of that roster was young and their vibe was with Dak, particularly Zeke who never played with Romo. But reports in practice was Romo was doing his thing and he didn’t need Zeke to score against the Eagles, while Dak was flailing around like a chicken with his head cut off. In the game, all you have to do is look at how the Eagles changed their defense as soon as Romo stepped on the field.

The general trend of reports were basically that Dallas didn’t want to upset the run, but it was a stupid decision. In the end, it ultimately boiled down to Dak being cheaper. If Romo was actually around in 2017, the way Dak played, there would have been plenty of pressure for the FO to play Romo, Dak was that awful.
But part of the reason Romo retired was because he was getting older and more injury prone. He hadn't played a full season in two years.
That, plus the fact that the Cowboys thought they captured lightning in a bottle with the play of Dak his rookie season and that Dak was cheaper as well as Romo being offered a top broadcasting position made it easier for him to ride into the sunset.

Moreover, the Houston Texans were banking on Romo playing because he was reportedly going to be their new quarterback. I think a healthy Tony Romo jumps at the chance. But I believe he even factored in his health as a reason why he didn't continue playing football.

I don't disagree with your point that Dak regressed, I just don't think if Romo did get the starting job back he would have played a full season.

But I would have loved to have seen him play with a young Zeke and Dez. :)

Different players different strengths and weaknesses, but the one thing they share is the irrational hate the receive from their own “fan”base
