I've never had a Shiner at Gruene Hall, but I've had plenty of Shiners in my day. Now I have floated the Guadalupe. Texas Hill Country is beautiful. That was back when Texas State was Southwest Texas where my brother attended.

We just got Shiner here in the NYC area probably 9 months ago. Prior to that, the furthest NE that it had come was Philly and I wouldn't go to Philly for anything. Not even a Shiner. I have not been to Gruene Hall, but I have tubed the Guadalupe though. :)

You and I are like blood brothers. Minus the blood. Ha. I live in Western PA and the grocery store, Giant Eagle, just started selling beer. Well low and behold, they freakin' got Shinerbock! You can actually build a six pack there. The distributors still have all the say in this area, but still, it's nice to know I can take a trip back to good ol' Abilene, TX with a cold Shiner every now and then. Ahhhh!

hah I've already got a couple of friends that are sold on Shiner after I introduced them to it once we got it. Now we hang out at the Observatory every weekend (weather permitting) and drink Shiner and take pictures of the night sky! :)

I wasn't much into country music when I was young, but living growing up in New Braunfels made me appreciate it. Growing up, there wasn't much to do in the evenings, but girls liked to dance and go to the dance halls, so you learn to like it... lol .

Listening to KBOX on my grandmother's am kitchen radio every other sat and sun morning, ingrained classic county music into my brain pan. Then, when the Urban Cowboy phase hit, I got a PT job teaching C&W dance lessons on sunday nights at No Whar But Texas on Central @ Walnut Hill, for some friends of my mom's.

I hated it at first, until I realized the clientele was overwhelmingly 30-something sugar-mamas, who were more than happy to bribe a dance partner w/ free beer for the rest of the evening.

Damn, if I lived nearby, I'd be right there with y'all. Invitation, and weather permitting of course.

Great song by Fowler.

Please share some of your sugar-momma stories. Lol "Keep your hands off my willy, Mamma!"

Yep, I saw the Gourds at Luckenbach 2 years ago. When they played Gin & Juice for all those cowboys it was epic. Shinyribs will be playing Luckenbach this year on May 24th and Gruene Hall on May 30th. I plan on being at one of those two shows. Speaking of cowboys and Gruene Hall, I saw Ziggy Marley at Gruene Hall last October. Cowboys boot scootin to reggae was something to behold.

To be honest I'm not a country music fan at all! That said Townes Van Zandt would make my top 10 favorite artists of all time. He and Chris Christopherson are probably the two best country music writers of all time.

Oh my JB... it's Kris Kristofferson... and he IS a great songwriter...

That being said... here are some of his best pens...

Caught Steve Earle last Sunday here in Corpus, at a tiny joint downtown called House of Rock. My first time seeing him - he put on a great show! Alot of acoustic instruments and just enough electric guitar scattered throughout his set.

He also had The Mastersons as his opening act, and also as part of his band The Dukes. They are a husband & wife team based out of Austin I believe. They're pretty cool too.
