I can't help but think that this game will hinge on what Texas team shows up. Bama is going to show up and play their game, but Texas has been inconsistent this year. If Texas shows up and plays their "A-Game", then this could be one heck of a game and Texas could certainly win. If the Longhorns play like they did against Nebraska or some of the other teams they played down to, then Bama is going to put it on them.

If Texas can stop the running game then they have a chance because I believe Texas or Florida has the best secondary in the Nation.

But I just think the Texas front 7 will get bullied against the more Physical crimson tide.

I don't like this match up at all for Texas. I hope they win but its the classic battle of Physical football vs Finesse football.

If Alabama decides to impose their will in the run game im affraid there isn't much Texas can do about it but if anyone can find a way to stop it than it would be muschamp.

This is why they play the game. I feel confident that Texas will control the Bama running game. Ingram is a good back I think he will have some good runs but I don't see them running over the Texas line and linebackers. Again i think many are under estimating the Texas defense which is fine by me.

Bama will eat the soft wusses of the Texas O line right up.

Size-wise, Texas is at a disadvantage in their OL vs Bama's DL. I think Texas attempts to run them ragged though with their hurry-up from the get-go. I also think you'll see a ton of designed runs for McCoy, way more than at anytime in his career.

Defensively, Texas has been a bit suspect when facing really physical backs, especially when they reach they second level, but Bama won't match-up well to UT's overall speed on D. UT's secondary should give Bama all they can handle in the passing game.

I think the x-factor is McCoy and Shipley. A lot to be said for how two seniors, with their experience and history, can affect an outcome of a game of this magnitude, especially when it comes to the college game.

I'm putting my money on my Alma Mater, and saying;

Horns - 34
Bama - 24

I agree. Texas is comfortable running the hurry up and while the running game is not great much of the short passes they throw are essentially part of the Texas running game. The more Bama moves up on those the more likely Texas will start attacking them deep.

Romo is the only quarterback to start his career with three consecutive seasons with quarterback ratings of 97+. So, yes. You were wrong. Egregiously, in fact.

You're charging at windmills. I never said this.

Except I didn't say he wasn't good. I just said he was a choker. Which he's proven to be down the stretch in 3 of his 4 years as a starter.

Oh? So your only reason to reply to my post was to start a messageboard fight? How very grown-up of you.

McCoys has to have over 100 yards rushing for Texas to win.

Actually, it's never been proven, and you're still wrong.

No. I was merely commenting on the specious nature of your predictions. If you can't handle the criticism, I suggest you avoid making predictions.

Bama's a better team and the better team will win this one.

I really dislike Nick Saban, but he's one heck of a coach.

Every time I've seen Bama in big games, they simply overpower teams. I doubt this will be different.

I tell what, Texas has nothing better to do Jan 7th so they may as well show up to the game.

Shades of USC are dancing through my head as I recall Texas did not have snowballs chance in hell of winning that game either. Boys from Texas will go take care of their business tomorrow night. :)

Still waiting for ESPN's "USC vs the greatest teams of all time" series to show the Texas game.:laugh2:

Texas is always dangerous when they are underdogs.

It usually brings out a different side to that team ever since Vince Young stepped on campus.

For what it's worth, not that it's worth anything... I always thought Texas would beat USC that year. I always thought Leinart and Bush were WAY overrated.

Plus, that UT team was better than this one IMO.

That USC team was better then this Alabama team as well. To be honest, this Alabama team and this Texas team, from historical perspectives are not very good IMO. The Texas team is to one dimensional on offense, too dependant on just one player and Bama is offensively limited. They can run the ball but they are not dominating in the run game, per say. They are not very good at all in the passing game. Defensively, they are good but they give up way too many big plays.

I think these teams are very even. Turnovers will probably be the difference.

Well this Texas team is very good as well. I have nothing but respect for Bama but I like Texas chances in this game. People are looking at the Neb game as some overall view of Texas I think that is a big mistake. Texas will not come in this game intemidated by Bama these guys know they can hold their own with any team out there

I think the skill players do but I don't know if the Texas front 7 and Texas Oline have that same confidence.

I just don't like the size of the UT front 7 going into this game and I don't like Greg Davis as a playcaller going into this game.

If he tries the whole one demensional approach than Colt McCoy is going to have to be magical tonight in order for them to win because Saban wants Texas to be 1 demensional.

For me i'd hit them with Newton and Johnson early in the game. Whether it works or not isn't the issue with me. Its just instilling it in their heads that Texas will run the ball tonight.

Also I hope I don't see Shipley lined far out wide tonight either. Texas needs to attack their safeties and Shipley and Buckner are the guys to do it out of the slot.

They do look tough. But Auburn is Alabama's biggest game during the regular season--every season--and that one went down to the final minute....so they can be beaten.

With all of the advantges already being pointed out for the Tide, I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that Julio Jones (soph, but certain future NFL WR) is now healthy for them too.

I have already stated that I think Alabama is the better team and will win and I think they have the better coach.

With that said Texas can win the game. They do play the game for a reason and just don't hand out the title before the game is played.

For those that argue O or D line size vs the other team. That is a natural argument to make but it does not always matter.

Remember WVU vs Oklahoma...even I was worried about the size of Oklahoma entering into the second half. Worried that their size would wear down WVUs defenders...but it did not matter...WVU still won by 20. Also remember that ESPN did a national poll prior to that game and every state except WV had oklahoma winning.

Think of how many people gave Boise state to beat Oklahoma the year prior to that but they did.

Most people did not give Texas a chance vs USC either but they won the game.

It is not always about who is the bigger team in the trenches, sometimes it is who has the biggest heart, who is coached better, who makes the less penalties, who respects their opponent more and does not think they will just win the game by showing up.

Anything can happen.

But...I still think Alabama wins it in a close one.:D
