With that said, it's a stretch to assume UT wins with McCoy. I know it makes for a convenient way to look at the game and brush off the loss, but it's a weak argument IMO.

Nobody knows if they would have won if McCoy did not get hurt. That is just speculations and what ifs...here is some speculation and what ifs..If Ingram did not miss most of the 3rd and 4th quarter than Alabama would have scored some more and ate more clock. If Alabama did not have some screw ups on STs (not even counting the 4th fake punt play) then maybe they win by more points.
You can do what ifs all day but in the end there is no way to know.
Maybe some texas fans in here should just follow Colt's lead and give congrats to bama and let the rest go. Maybe Saban could learn some class from colt.

However, I think we can look at what Bama has done throughout the season and how they win and how they can be beaten. If, and let me say that it's only an IF, but IF Colt doesn't get hurt and Texas is able to put up 14 instead of 6, that turns Bama into a passing team very early into this game. I think that we can all agree that if Colt is the QB, then Bama probably doesn't stack the LOS because Colt can roll and Colt can run or pass on the roll out. They would have had to defense Texas differently on each of those situations. Does Texas score TDs instead of FGs? Well, I don't know but we can go to school a little bit on the earlier Third and short that Texas converted when Colt was in the game. Bama didn't use short yardage there. They played the spread so I think we can easily say that the chances of Texas scoring TDs is much better if Colt is in the lineup. If Bama is down by 14 in the first Quarter, Neither Ingram or Richardson have the rushing numbers they had and Bama doesn't control the entire first half with the running game. Then, you have to have the Bama QB make plays in the passing game and I would have liked that game very much if I'm Texas.
All of these are what ifs and could have beens. At this point, that's all they are because the reality is that Texas lost and Bama won. EOS.
That was an impressive synopsis. Lot's of "what ifs" that actually had realistic backing...while still realizing they are still "what if" scenarios.ABQCOWBOY;3207579 said:We can't know what would or would not have happened had Colt not been injured. They were tough enough to win. They just couldn't execute well enough.
Even with Gilbert they probably still should've won. Malcolm Williams, the halftime blunder, and Greg Davis waiting to long to attack really put a damper on them.
It really sucks that the game was decided the way it was. Maybe we could get the rematch next year because both teams will be the most talented in their conference.
Weird game imo. Worst Gatorade shower execution in history too.
