Holy crap. Cowboys fans would be jumping off bridges if all we got was a 2nd for him and he turned out to be this good for the Saints.
Well, we got QC in the 2nd didn't we? We could have drafted another QC!

I agree that the board would be in full melt-down mode. And rightly so.

I thank Bill Parcells for sitting Romo on the bench and letting him learn from Testaverde and Bledsoe, the way it should be done. If Romo had been thrown in too early, we'd still be looking for a QB.

But but...Parcells just wants 'his' guys playing..and he's an idiot for not grooming a young QB. He even said he didn't have time for that!

Well do we really know if BP was sitting Romo for his own good? BP just as easily could have been looking out the backdoor and wanting to win a quick as possible so he could retire again. Obviously much easier to do with a vet than new QB. IMO Romo forced his hand.

Dude, Tony Romo himself said he wasn't ready.

No way Parcells or Payton let Jerry cut Romo after his second preseason even if he was inclined to do so. He was showing signs of coming on just as Henson was showing signs of regressing.

Many here scoffed at the idea Payton would have offered us a 2nd for Romo and thought we would be crazy to have turned it down.

I thought it was all quite plausible as I knew Payton liked Romo alot. He also knew it was not going to be possible to just steal him from Parcells so he was going to have to make a reasonable offer. Thank goodness he was turned down. Elite QBs are darn near impossible to find. We'll keep this one the next 10 years or so, hopefully.

I think they offered a number two

No way was it that high. I think it was a 4th or 5th. At that point, I think we would have been kinda crazy to not trade him for a 2nd.

Not if they knew he was going to become the starter within a year.

Didn't we turn down the 3rd round pick the Jets offered?

Since this is a Quincy Carter appreciation thread, I would like to take the time to send my appreciation to Quincy Carter for reincarnating into Jason Campbell. Way to support the Dallas Cowboys!!

Romo played at Sean Payton's alma mater. He broke all of Payton's passing records. He is his find. Confirmed by the scouting department last year.

That was known back as far as 2003/04 actually. Rookie year Payton actually wanted to start Romo over QC.

It was Parcells that saw the talent early on and groomed him perfectly. Payton and Parcells Vet QB's tutored Romo how to prepare for NFL games.

The Romo Bandwagon is no longer a small wagon. Its a fleet of wagons from coast to coast.

I can't believe Romo wasn't taken by anyone in the draft. We wanted to take him in the fifth but we decided to take a LB I think. Romo is probably the greatest player to be picked up after not getting drafted.

It's almost like Romo is meant to win the Superbowl for us with all the crazy things that have happened to put this undrafted free agent as our starting QB. Hopefully it's this year.

Also, I believe I heard that right after Payton got the New Orleans coaching gig he contacted Dallas about acquiring Romo in a trade. Parcells said thanks but no thanks.

And ya know what? I'd bet BP said no just to be a hard-***. I don't think he had any intentions w/Romo. Acquiring Bledslow proved that. To me anyway.
We should be thanking Drew Bledsoe for not listening to BP come game day. 1 too many forced balls and hangin' on to them too long for Bill's taste. JMO, of course..........
