That 30 year championship drought people are talking about? Dallas is 251-217 (.536) since 1995

Some of us older guys who've gone through championships find it a little harder to deal with today's fan who is as weak as they come. No offense. We expected to win titles back then, now a day, we just hope for a play off win.
Thats my problem, guess I got spoiled with the success growing up, but the Cowboys were always in the mix to get to a SB, and it stung like he** when they didnt make it or lost.

Now we celebrate Jerry supposedly winning a trade that could have been done in March and yielded a bigger dividend and due to mismanagement of the QBs contract left little meat on the bone to keep elite talent.

30 years and counting.

Oh I'm sure this will tick some people off.

NFL Cumulative Seasonal Rankings since 1995

#11 overall. Look, I get it, Jerry makes himself an easy target. Dude wants to win and (obviously) wants the credit in doing so. Look at the Netflix special. He obviously made the mistake letting Jimmy go, but Jimmy wasn't going to say around much longer anyway. And who knows, now that I've seen the Netflix special, just maybe Barry and his "hands off but love the player" approach was best for that 1995 veteran squad that ended up winning it all. Along with the signing of Deon, which was all Jerry no doubt. Dallas NEEDED Deon to get the ring in '95 -- wonder if Jimmy would have been on board with the signing?

Anyway, back to the topic -- Dallas is ranked just outside of the top 10 in terms of winning percentage (.536) during the regular season since 1995. I know, I know, what have you done for me during the post season? I get that. But as I've said many times, they were in GREAT position in 2007 and 2016 -- both #1 seeds in the NFC.

Bashing Jerrah is as American as apple pie and fireworks on the 4th of July. It's EASY to do. But unless you've got some context, it doesn't tell the whole story. Yes, I've been frustrated with Jerry. But it's not like this 30 year drought has come with season after season of just 4-8 wins as with many franchises (including Washington until recently). The bottom line is Jerry and those with a hand in the personnel put this club in position for a championship run more than once. Should Jerry get the blame for the 2007 playoff loss to the NYG, or does that fall on the defense? Does that fall on Patrick Crayton not running at full stride when Romo laid the ball out to him in the EZ late in that 4th quarter? Is it Jerry's fault that Romo couldn't hold the ball on a FG attempt in Seattle in '06, or Dez's "catch" was ruled not a catch? Is it Jerry's fault that the defense couldn't make a stop on Aaron Rodgers during the home divisional playoff game in 2016 (Jan 2017)?

You see where I'm getting at. No championship game since 1995 has just as much to do with "bad luck" or players not making plays than Jerry's so-called incompetence as an owner and GM.

Like I said, this will probably piss some of you off, but again it's not just black and white like everyone wants to make it out.

And yes, I think the Parsons trade ultimately will be a good one for the Cowboys. They got good return when you consider not many teams could be or would be willing to take on that contract.
Not even.

The record indicates Jerry's pathetic attempts to say relevant, not anything remotely resembling success.

Included in that olio is way too many mediocre seasons which should have been 4 win seasons. Due to the record you are touting, we've had very little chance to bring in topflight players, the kind that dominate in the playoffs.

And when we do start winning, Jerry immediately starts drafting weird, taking the Tacos and Mazis and Jaylons and Schooner high in the draft, which is a huge reason for no playoff success.

The record is a bad thing, not a good thing.

Disgusting. It means we had opportunities but the team always folds in big games. You would think this team would stumble into a. Championship game. This team is snake bitten.
And we generally fold for the same reason, Jerry refuses to build a super bowl DL. When you get to the playoffs, it's absolutely necessary to disrupt the opposing QB. Jerry mistakenly believes that all he has to do it get some edge rushers. While the teams who have disruptive DTs are winning the super bowls. Jerry thinks like a casual fan, and that is our downfall.

The goals is not to have the best won-loss record over 30 years, it is to win the Super Bowl every year. The Cowboys are the only team in 25 years to not make it to a NFC championship. Their playoff record is abysmal. There is no silver lining in the Jerry cloud of misery.

Look, I get it, Jerry makes himself an easy target.
I disagree. Jerry Jones is actually a hard target. Here is an incomplete list of GMs, who were unsuccessful dodging promotions or firings or Father Time across the league since he self-appointed himself as a general manager:

A 30 year bad streak has nothing to do with luck at all. The Cowboys have been middling in the regular season, and flat out horrible in the post season. By far the worst playoff team of the NFC for the last 30 years.

Tell me when they hang the banner for being barely above .500 in the regular season for all that time.
You do realize half of the league sucks???

We measure success in Dallas with playoff wins. The bar has always been high but Jerry wants to measure success by profits not playoff wins.

Being the number one seed is meaningless if choke in the playoff, a Jones tradition for three decades.

Remember:

“Increasing success by lowering expectations” - Jerry Jones

Disagree. We should have and could have made plays to make that one play irrelevant. We didnt and can't. What you say is a losers mentality. If you are good, truly good you dont need luck
BS. Every good team has to rely on a certain amount of luck, a ball bounce, the other team making a mistake. That's just the way life in general is. The better teams are just better able to take advantage of the luck.

So Eagles won by luck bot sound play and talent.
KC won it on luck.
Patriots won it on luck 7 times.

Good teams make their own luck and dimin8sh the need to depend on luck to get across the finish line. Luck is the icing on the cake. Not like us needing it to be the cake.

the people that get pissed off do not know football, they are just plain fans. It all falls on the players, they are the ones on the field. all people have to do is pay attention. it's like a fashion show now days when professional athletes show up to games now, which carries on to the field of play. they go out there with big ear rings, gold chains on, spend a lot of time looking into the crowd talking to fans, those jokers are not about being great as a team, hell not even as individuals, they want to break the bank and flash their money and jewelry. they are little punks
How are other teams able to win consistently with the same generation of players?

No but each of those teams had a bit of luck every year. Creating your own luck defies the definition of luck. Did all of those team do something to force the other teams in the league into the W/L's they finished with? Thereby putting those teams in a better position in the playoffs? Did these teams cause the opponent to drop that one easy pass? Just a few examples.

Great point

When you put it that way, would anyone really be that upset if the next 30 years was exactly like last 30? Not me and CowboyInMD

It won't be that way in the next 30 years. First off, Jerry won't be around all that time. I don't even think Stephen will. Secondly, if your as successful of a business model in terms of franchise, i.e. if you're the Yankees of the NFL, are you really gonna go 60 years between champions? Even the Raiders "stumbled" into the SB earlier this century vs the Bucs. And probably should have beaten the Pats before that in the snow up in Foxboro if not for the tuck.
