lmao!!!! The team wins in overtime in dramatic fashion, a lifelong Cowboy and by all accounts well-liked teammate has a breakout game and wins it in extraordinary fashion, and Johnny Q. Couchpotato decides that the team doesn't think much of itself because they stormed their teammate after a dramatic win.
I forget, what was your roster number again? I confused you with someone else who was just watching the game...

You're right. They should have just headed to the locker room and acted like it wasn't no big thing
It WAS NO BIG THING. THAT is why you don't get it.

I can just see Randy White and Ed Jones dogpiling in the end zone after a suck-nut win. Or Lee Roy Jordan and Bob Lilly. Or Troy and Emmitt. Yeah, those teams just didn't feel the love - no.

Ask the Eagles if they would prefer to celebrate doing the famous McNabb moonwalk after a win or lose to the Raiders and ask what the heck happened? (resulting in a Loss)

If we had played 5 teams with .500 records or better, probably. We've only played one "good" game this year, and that was against 0-6 Tampa Bay (and we trailed that game at halftime)

We're a bottom 3rd NFL team, primarily because we are one of if not the worst coached team
You suck at facts

You're just being stupid for the sake of being stupid. On the field, a win is a win. Like I said, if they had just morosely walked off the field, couch potato geniuses like you would have criticized them for having no fire or passion, a reflection of their bum head coach.

Whiners gonna whine.

I never said that. BUT it can be corrected. I DO believe that.

I think this still requires the assumption of a can opener to solve the problem of an unopened can opener but we can agree to disagree.

If you take out the Giants game how is our average? I dont know so I am asking a serious question.

Very good question. The giveaway average is 1.6 per game with the NYG game included. This is below average but not terrible, actually. The giveaway average without the NYG game is just 1.0, which is quite good. Keep in mind, though, that 2 giveaways per game is terrible (our average last year was 2.1 and we were 2nd worst in the league) and we've had that or more in 3 out of our 5 games. In yours and the Cowboys' defense, they had had two 0 giveaways games. I still don't think it makes sense to treat the Giants game as an anomaly.

I'm really anxious to see how this team comes out and plays against Atlanta. It's not a make or break game but to me it's a 'show me the money' game. If they beat Atlanta, my glass will be half full again; if they lose, it's half empty from here out, barring a major turnaround.

That was a different era. There simply wasn't that much celebration in general. And Troy and Emmitt were part of great teams. They could afford to have higher standards. These Cowboys were on the verge of being 2-3, facing an uphill schedule and major turmoil in Dallas. Instead they've got a winning record and are in half-decent shape compared to other teams. I think it's silly to complain about the celebration. You don't need to dig into this kind of stuff to find problems that symbolize our mediocrity. I'm fine to just stick to the non-symbolic mediocre play itself.

I'm with you on the other half of this argument--there are way too many people in here that seem to think all is well because a win is just a win. The Cowboys have played like a mediocre team this year.

From a strictly numbers standpoint, JG is performing on par with Payton.

Our offense beat up on the Giants D every bit as bad as the Saints did - noone noticed because we lost, and had every possible break go against us - but we still performed outstandingly offensively against New York.

The Saints secondary played better than ours. That is one of our Achilles' heels. We have still relatively experienced CBs in Jenkins and Scandrick and our safety play is subpar. Hamlin is a liability and Sensabaugh is out right now. I'm looking forward to seeing what M Hamlin has to offer although I'm not holding my breath on the rookie. We really need K Hamlin to play better.

And for goodness sakes, get some turnovers. They really need to spend some time on the jugs machine. All of them.

I think in a discussion of "Jason Garrett" versus "Sean Payton" it can be assumed that I'm not talking about defense at all. ;)

Fortunately, the players are smart enough to know how hard wins are to come by in the NFL.

The only ones who think like that are deluded fans who think their team should win every game by three touchdowns and complain when they don't.

I went and watched some of the postgame Patriots react from their last minute win against the Bills (a team on a par with the Chiefs) who the Patriots needed an enormously lucky break to complete the comeback on in week 1. I believe in the preseason the Bills did not score a single TD?

Bellichick ends his presser with "I'm proud of this win, I'm proud of every win."

Tune to the 2:54 mark to see how a REAL team morosely walks off the field after a dramatic comeback. When Stephen Neal walks over to Tom Brady you can see him mouthing the words "Calm down, dude. We just beat the crappy Bills, and they basically HANDED us the game. We should have beat them by 40. Slow your roll."

So tell us junior, what is your roster number?

Straw man, -1 point for not knowing how to argue. "Would have" - really? So now you play on Sundays AND have a time machine.

And bootlickers gonna lick. Tell me, do you shine it for Jerreh first? No matter what this team steps in...

You know, seeing just how short the skirt is on this team anymore, who thinks this team would be backslapping and grabassing in the end zone if one Mr. James Williams Johnson was coaching this team? Don't give me "different era" crap, since this team has been so bad so damn long we HAVE to go back to a "different era" to get the last time this franchise was any damn good.

Criminey, this thread is someone's fantasy of vicariously beating another team - "hey that was us" - only it WASN'T us, and now we get our jollies fantasizing about WOULDA COULDA SHOULDA.

There was a time when this franchise held itself to a higher standard. Hey, now a win is a win! From the Ding Dong Book of Useless Quotes.

Hey, that Oakland game should have been us, beating the Eagles, instead of losing 44-6!!

What a sad state of affairs this is. And how low the bar is set for this team and for folks willing to think the slop at the trough was the meal...

That was a HUGE play at the end of the Chiefs game. The Cowboys weren't happy with the way they played, but that game ended in dramatic fashion with an outstanding effort by a guy who has been working his *** off each and every season since he's been here to be in the position he was.

It was a combination of winning the way they did and congratulating the guy who made that play.

Internet scrooge won't understand this simple explanation. Football is not a game of emotion. Your celebrations are to be meted out according to strength of schedule, not thrill of win.

Oh I see...

I wonder what the litmus test is for a "good" team? I mean, do the coaches consult a "strength chart" to have an idea on whether to celebrate or not and then pass that on to the players during the week in between gameplanning and strategizing?

I hear ya but in the Giants game, in my eyes we put the defense on the field 4 times more than they had to be. If we control our drives with the running game(and less or no turnovers) then the Giants chances on offense were sure to be less.
