Sydney Brown is already better than any of our safeties.
Yeah that’s crap. He gets a pick 6 and now he’s better than Donovan Wilson? Hooker? Eagles secondary is *** maybe next year or the year after but y’all have to stop overrating talent just because it got drafted by Howie.

Good teams still draft players to make an impact. This looks like the backup draft of 09. Thats how teams decline. Hopefully a few pan out next year.
I agree but typically those guys don’t start right away because they don’t have to.

This doesn’t look like the 2009 draft straight up were drafting backups and special team players. They had no first round picks….Mazi alone kills that theory. Everyone was excited about Mazi…I’m confused to how and why he’s now regulated to a “special teams” or backup now?

Yep....Are we shocked that most of the 2023 Draft Deniers are Dak Haters. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: ....this is what happens when you win 13 games including playoffs!!! Rookies don't get that much tick on an established team
thats not true I love dak hate the 2023 draft but you did say most. running back was big need going into the season Duece Vaughn is a joke at trying to address it.

TE was not a need even though schoon may turn out.I doubt it but its possible.

as long as Fergy is healthy Schoon will watch because he is is really not much of an upgrade on Hendershot. I was glad that the UDFA (Bass)seem to be looking positive it takes the sting out of bypassing a OL early for TE that wasnt needed.
picks 1 and 2 could have been had later in draft we could definately find a Mazi smith talent later in draft. I would have has Charbonnet in here as the other backs were probably out of our reach. The only pick i liked was round 3 and I reserve the right to crap on that one later as well but his injury gives him a pass till 25 probably

regradless Dak with help of the team is going to write a better picture this year I hope. regardless Ill enjoy my cowboys in the playoffs

They have to complain about something. Same ones who said we had no chance at winning the division….

Then Schoon shouldnt have been drafted. With who was on the board. It was bad.
I don't disagree from my vantage point. But this team was insistent on getting a tight end. Seemed like a luxury pick to me.

If I had to assume I think his team had planned on being far more run heavy then they have been. They were going to run a lot of two 2 sets...then things spiraled out of control when the run game couldn't run.

I didn't love every pick but I was not expecting them to bring this little value. Best rookie is TJ Bass.

Round 1 • Pick 26 (26) • DT Mazi Smith
Round 2 • Pick 27 (58) • TE Luke Schoonmaker
Round 3 • Pick 27 (90) • LB DeMarvion Overshown
Round 4 • Pick 27 (129) • DE Viliami Fehoko Jr.
Round 5 • Pick 34 (169) • OT Asim Richards
Round 6 • Pick 1 (178) • CB Eric Scott Jr.
Round 6 • Pick 35 (212) • RB Deuce Vaughn
Round 7 • Pick 27 (244) • WR Jalen Brooks
that's going to come and bite us in a couple of years if not starting next year. just like hitting in a draft can help you the same year and start paying dividends the subsequent years. a bad draft does the same. less impact this year, but man we are going to feel it in the next few years.

It’s not looking great overall but it’s too soon to give up on Mazi. Schoon looks like an awful pick that no one even like at the time. Let’s hope with a full off-season he can become an important factor in the run game that can contribute occasionally in the passing game. Not what you want out of a 2nd rounder either way.

Overshown has a chance, but what will he look like coming off the injury?

If one of Bass, Hoffman or Richards hit that obviously would help immensely

How many games has Martin missed? Two? And as of now....we don't seem to be hurting for backup guards.

You don't have to start to be a significant contributor? I mean I guess? But who fits this mold? Who would you have drafted in the 1st or 2nd round that would'v been a "significant contributor"?
Martin has been "injured" most of the year though. If Torrence had been the selection, you would have a viable starter to not only let him get healthy but which would have also impacted who else you kept on the roster to begin with and consequently how you shuffled your line for Tyron & Martin missing time. Plus you would have been setting yourself up for life after Martin.

Granted Bass has been able to step in & contribute but none of that was known when you were on the clock in round 2. Should have gotten the best player available & work the situation from there.

Bottom line, nothing about TE has shaken out to show that it was a glaring need nor that Schoon was so skilled that he warranted that investment.

One of those red flags for me with Schoon was his age. We have the all-time later career player in Roger Staubach, but I would be interested in a stat on how draft picks do that are 25-26 and over that don't come from another league. Doesn't seem like many of them go on to All Pro careers. I'm thinking 'healthy' David LaFleur is the ceiling for Schoon. Hopefully I'm wrong.

You aren't keeping Martin off that field though. Torrence wouldn't have done it....no one would. And based on what I saw this past Sunday? There could be something there with Brock Hoffman and TJ Bass.

But my stance is anything would've been better than Schoon or a tight end so I would've taken anyone except a tight end there.

And are we ruling out that they didn't like Torrence? They could've drafted him in the 1st or the 2nd passed?

George Kittle was older when drafted. I believe a year younger than Schoonmaker when he was drafted.

Honestly a lot of these guys are going to come in older now than in previous years because of the year sitting out because of Covid. You're going to see a few 24 or 25 or 26 year olds getting drafted this year.
