If Nelson guards that properly he doesn't let Fisher step into that three. Fisher isn't the type of shooter to raise up and hit it over the defender.

Horrible defense by Nelson.

The Magic deserved to lose that game. Too many missed free throws and horrible execution down the stretch.

He should have been further up on him, yes, but it's still not an easy shot.

Kobe hasn't won without Shaq, but Shaq has won without Kobe. Therefore Kobe can't do anything on his own. He needs the best Center of all time

He does ?

I don't believe Kobe ever played with Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Top 3 at least. Please don't say Russell or Chamberlain. Those guys were 7 foot lanky guys playing against 6"6 white boys.

How old are you ?

I disagree. No Laker Center dominated like Shaq did in the early 2000's. Kareem's prime was as a Buck and Wilt's prime was in SF and Philly.

Huh ?

Kareem won 4 NBA championships as the center piece of the Lakers in the 80's. The 5th championship was when Magic took over as the, basically, defacto leader of the team.

Shaq, physically, could have left every center that's ever play in the league in the dust, in terms of accomplishments, but he was too lazy and not focused enough to do it. He was an incredible physical speciment with size, skills, and agility, that we'll probably never see again in our lifetimes, but he wasn't as serious about the game as he could have been and it cost him.

This is incorrect. Magic was the leader and centerpiece of most, if not all of those championship teams in the 80's. Heck the guy played center replacing Kareem in the deciding game in the 1980 NBA Finals. Kareem was great but Magic set the tone for those teams.

I like Kareem way more than Shaq, easily, but Magic was the leader and The Man on those Laker teams in the 80's. There is no way to question that, IMO.

Agreed, but if Fisher misses that then the series is tied and no one says anything. I think Fisher deserves the credit more than Nelson deserves the blame. Hell, if Dwight had hit his free throws, there wouldn't even be an issue.

Let's not talk about missed free throws costing a championship. It brings back memories I'm just now getting over. :(

How was that the turning point, Bleu? The Lakers were up 2 in the 3rd when it happened. And Orlando was able to rebuild a 5 point lead with 40 seconds left.

Howard's missed FTs and/or the Fisher 3 to force OT was the turning point, IMO.

Up until that point the Lakers were playing their typical passive "we don't really care all that much" game. When Kobe ripped the rebound from Dwight and then told him to shut the **** up it set the tone for the way the Lakers were to respond for the remainder of the game.

I do agree. Howard's facial cringes at the FT line and Fisher's clutch 3's were definitely critical moment of game 4 as well.

The Magic's horse shoe has fallen out of their arse.

I expect one last run, but they aren't the better team.

Props to Stan Van Gundy though, he's coached very well down the stretch.

Kinda quiet here... what do we think, fellas?

Do the Lakers close it out tonight? Or do the Magic send the series back to LA?

Last year, LA was down 3-1 to Boston and won Game 5 at home. Boston closed out the series in Game 6, in Boston.

In 2000, Indiana was down 3-1 to LA and won Game 5 at home. LA closed out the series in Game 6, in LA.

In 1996, Seattle was down 3-1 to Chicago and won Game 5 at home. Chicago closed out the series in Game 6, in Chicago.

Same story this time around. I picked the Lakers in 6 and I'm sticking with it... meaning I'm picking Orlando to win tonight.

Which means a few more days for ol' SLATE to get in some last-minute Kobe disses before the Mamba claims his first Finals MVP award.

Whasup Nav? :D I've stated numerous times in this thread that the Lakers would take it in 5.

Tonight is the night.

Lakers in 5.
