The absolute last Julius v Barber thread

I really dont care who starts .....

But Barber should be getting plenty (if not most) of the carries ....

Maybe then JJ can find his fire again.

It's obvious Barber wants the job more than Julius does. Give me the back that will scratch and claw for that extra yard instead of falling down on contact.

Would Barber have the same impact on the game as a starter? I think he's earned a shot to show hwat he has. JMO.

Barber has fight in him.

Nothing wrong at all about what we are doing with them both right now.
We won quit complaining and bashing players.

I don't care what people say. Barber is our MVP and he proved it tonight.

I just have one question ... how many 77 yard runs has Barber made?

You can hae the ONE 77yder that JJ had. I'll take the consistency of Barber moving the chains and the pile. Instead of running into them...

I can understand wanting Barber to start but some of the crap that is thrown around about Julius is just stupid

none of my analysis can be disputed, if you watch the games.

Since this is the "absolute last" JJ v. MBIII thread I'll give in and convert. Barber's nasty stiff arm of Milloy on the crucial 3rd & 1 in the red zone sold me for good. He's a player. I think Barber benefits from the change of pace that JJ presents and vice versa. But Parcells most values on-field performance ; and Barber deserves his shot as a "starter."

I think he's like a good 6th man in the NBA. Opponents have to prepare for JJ all week and so Barber can come in and have a huge impact cause you can't really plan for this platoon back situation. This could change if he starts.

If you don't think teams prepare for Barber you are crazy. The guy has the most TDs in the NFC. It doesn't matter how many times you get the ball teams have to prepare for that... And teams don't really prepare for a player as much as they prepare for a scheme.

I think Julius lost his job tonite
MB III just sees the holes better IMO. I like JJ, but I have to go with production.......simply put MB III should be the starter!

brilliant

First off, I like JJones, I really wanted him to be our future starting rb..but i tell it like i see it. Yes he got a 77 yard run BUT.. every single td run/long run hes had, he hasnt broken many tackles, he just shoots up through the middle untouched. anyone can do that with great blocking.. just think of the td runs this year.. the jacksonville one, the saints one, last year again the panthers, I want to see runs like barber where he makes guys miss and trucks guys into the endzone with him. Now THATS a rb!

julius jones is nothing mroe than a 3rd stringer.

Wow, I didn't know 3rd stringers are also thousand yard rushers. :bang2:

barber wont start because bp doesnt want one back to take all the carries, including third down....it will stay the same...IMO though if JJ cant get it going after 7 or 8 carries he needs to be pulled right away...not after 10 or 11...pull him quicker bp...maybe barber would keep us ahead the whole game by doing it

Here is what I think we know. Barber has shown that he has worth and is excellent at what he does. What we do not know is if the roles were reversed that Barber would have an equal level of success as he is currently enjoying. May he would and maybe he would not.

Barber does not have great speed. He is currently coming in the game "fresh" and is playing against a defense that has expended some energy before Barber gets in the game, so I hypothesize that that freshness advantage offsets his lack of true top end speed. I'm not saying he isn't a very good back, but it remains to be seen if he can be the feature back. I do like what I see in him though.

As for Julius Jones, regardless of the reason, he has not been very effective most of the time. I think if the opportunity presents itself, I would look to upgrade over Jones. I would love to see Adrian peterson drop in the draft due to his injury this year and for us to trade up and get him. I think that is wishful thinking, but I can dream, can't I? Maybe we could throw in Julius Jones in the trade. Peterson could be the next great NFL running back.

they are when barber could get 1800

This is a joke, right?

You were a fan of Troy Hambrick's 5.0 average as Emmitt's backup also right?

I'm not sure if Barber is as good getting the full load. I think with JJ and Barber we have 2 great backs that compliment each other.

Agreed. The coaching staff seems to think so also.

It's working.
