The aging, injured veteran I would trade Dez

While I don't "hate" Dez, I find his emotional outbursts and testosterone overload swagger to be distasteful. Big difference.

Witten is slow but does everything else well. He has also talked some smack but nowhere near the ridiculousness Bryant subjects teammates and opponents alike to. Dez is pretty slow, can't get open anymore and has problems with ball security. Granted, if running your mouth = football skill he would be top 5 in the league but alas, it is not so.

So to sum up, Dez is an ineffectual braggart and Witten is a solid player that will yell at you occasionally.

When has Dez talked smack? Quotes please? Dez only talks up his team not himself. It's distasteful to see a person different than you with high self esteem huh? Dez's "outburst" on the sideline has been made to rally the team. You sound like crazy now. But hey understand it bad for someone like Dez to emotional. I guess he doesn't have you all's permission huh? Self righteous...

I like his emotion. Always have. Just don't like what it causes when it's negative emotion. Having to get IV's, getting so frustrate that he can't runs routes to get enough separation. The entire team lost, but I want one of the highest paid receivers to do more. Not too much to ask.
I like his emotion but I don't like it when his emotion puts the team in jeapordy. Like I don't like him facemask to facemask screaming at Norman while the play is still going on and he could have made an effort to tackle the guy who intercepted the ball before he reached the end zone. Or when he came onto the field in the playoff game against Detroit that could have been a 15 yard penalty. He's got to be smart with his emotions.

Disclaimer: I like Dez, I love Dez, I'm planning on constructing a bronze statue of Dez in my backyard. Relax, just a conversation.

Character? You mean like when people harped on his trip to Cabo?

It doesn't take much to have an IQ greater than room temperature.

That's easy...choker...he went to Cabo before a playoff game...all those things have to do with football...not him as man..Dez is called dumb, thugs, immature ect....it doesn't take much iq to figure the difference.

I'm convinced. Most of the posters of this site are mentally incapable of understanding the game of football. Dez sucks now? He only runs outs & flys by design of OC & the OC's play calling. Not Dez's fault. However if he came out & complained about the play calling he would considered a cancer. Jason Witten would never receive this much hate. Btw Jason sucked yesterday. No one calling for him to be traded. I wonder why???? Hmmmm...
You started out making sense, then failed miserably. There's a lot of knee-jerk couch potatoes who want to change everything about the team from week to week. Do yourself a favor and don't join in.

Teams want to commit two players to stop one player, let them. That leaves someone to pick up the slack. And they did to a point. They just have to finish. Field goals don't do it.

Actually, the Cabo criticisms are right in line with the criticisms you listed about Dez. They struck right at Tony's work ethic, maturity, and football intelligence.

You failed miserably with with saying I did. I'm not here for your likes or respect. Neither of them are life or death to me. I'm stating facts. If you don't like it oh well...

Only as a football player....not as a man like you all love to do with Dez.

Moving on from Dez Bryant would prove smart in the long run. He's a problem waiting to happen as he gets older and really becomes ineffective.

Yes, I would trade him today and if he goes for 10-180-3 on Sunday I would still trade him.

Opinions aren't necessarily facts. That life or death thing is deep.

Doubt it. There is no Tony hate here, & I'm his biggest fan. When has Tony been called names? Just because there is a collective conscience on an issue doesn't make it right. I'm willing to bet you think Kneeling for the national anthem is disrespectful.
What does kneeling for national anthem have anything to do with this conversation? This is a conversation about a hypothetical scenario in which Dez Bryant is traded and for what bounty would be wanted. Why are you trying to make this bigger than what it is? Why are you trying to take it down this road? If you feel as though this forum has social issues within it, then take that up with the mods or administration. If you feel certain players are criticized more than other players for non football related reasons then again take that up with the mods and administration. I can assure you that the only reason I would ever consider trading Dez is his injury, massive contract, and dipping production last year and Sunday. That's it. That's the only reason. There's nothing else to it. I took a ton of heat yesterday for starting this thread and non of it bothered me besides these comments that there is something besides football in my thinking.

People only care about those things insomuch as they perceive those things affect Dez's performance in the field. People, for instance, don't care that Randy Gregory smokes pot. They only care when it gets him suspended

Only took one game for the Trade Dez idea. Not only that but for a 2nd rounder lol.....

If I had no idea how Sunday's game actually went, and all I had to go on was the threads and posts in this forum, I'd guess we lost like 49-0.

And here's what I'd have learned-

Dak didn't play well.
Dez is slow.
Dez is washed up.
Dez should be traded.
O-line is overrated.
O-line is soft.
Witten should retire ASAP.
Defense is terrible.
We have the dumbest coaches in the league.

I would trade Dez Bryant. I would love to trade him for a 1st rounder and I would do it for a 2nd rounder, or two 3rd rounders, one this year and one next year. If someone is willing to take on that contract.

Bryant has not been the same since he got paid and injured. He runs 2 routes. Either he doesn't know how to run more routes or the coaching staff doesn't use him correctly and his career is being wasted. Might as well try and get something for him.

Thoughts

If Im the patriots i offer you two third rounders and laugh my way to Tom Brady/Randy Moss 2.0 status all the way to the superbowl again.

Ya know what?

I'm a big Dez fan, but I'll entertain this.

It doesn't look like we're going anywhere far with this defense, and the possibility of Dak being the future (I think, and have always thought that he is) makes this with discussing, IMO.

If I could get a first for Dez, I might do it.

But I would wait to see if...

A.) Dez really has taken a step back.

B.) Dak really is the real deal.

C.) Do we really have no shot?

A and B are the most important IMO. I think this team has a good shot at the SB in 2018 if they play their cards right. If Dez is 80 percent of 2014 Dez at that time and Dak is the real deal, the offense SHOULD be good enough.

And the defense... Needs work, but nothing two years of solid, concentrated drafting and FA dollars can't fix.

Im disappointed that we both took this troll bait.

Who says I'm not relaxed? I didn't cuss you out. Just think it's not a problem to demand more from a guy that sat out because he "knew what he was worth."

Should not have signed him and put all that weight on the cap in the first place.

But its too late now.

Dez sells a ton of jerseys, however. I'll give him that. So its not a total loss for the franchise.

Dez is probably the Cowboy I'd most like to have a couple beers with. I'd like to get a feel for how intelligent he is. There has been smoke around his ability to expand his route running capability as well as keeping his emotions somewhat controlled since year one. If there is a real flame producing that smoke then things are only going to get worse as he ages and needs that wherewithal to counter the inevitable loss of a step as he ages.

Is the maddening failure to be more creative with him all on the coaching or is some of it on Dez? I don't know. If he is a great athlete capable of doing what he does but without the intelligence to expand on that then I would absolutely consider a good offer in the unlikely event a team makes it. I think is a fair question by the OP.

Not based just on the last game either.

I also admit I don't know much about the upcoming draft pool for WR which would have to be considered before pulling that trigger.
