The aging, injured veteran I would trade Dez

After Sunday......I would entertain trading J Witten.

There is nothing wrong with Witten. He just doesn't need to be the focal point of the offense. Beasley either.

The NFL is about big plays.

Superstars make big plays.

Giving your superstar 4 or 5 targets, 3 of which are 50/50 at best chances, and you're going to lose.

People are actually on this very forum saying dumb things like Dez drops passes now because he couldn't make a miracle play.

The renewed NFL officiating emphasis on calling illegal contact on ANY sort of contact down the field has really opened up the game for smaller WRs like Antonio Brown (5-10) and Odell Beckham (5-11) -- possibly to their advantage over the big guys like Dez.

Cole Beasley is ranked #2 in catch percentage over the last 5 years combined for all WR's targeted at least 200 times.

I would say he's earned that rate of confidence from team QB's.
It isn't about his reliability to catch the ball. You completely missed the point.

So, should he look stoic and clap his hands a lot?

Did anyone see the two DBs climbing all over Dez everytime the ball got thrown his way?

What do people expect of him? The Giants game planned to shut him down. They are professionals too! Jeez, they executed a game plan and it worked.

Dez is fine.

Except I have to hate him now.

I like his emotion. Always have. Just don't like what it causes when it's negative emotion. Having to get IV's, getting so frustrate that he can't runs routes to get enough separation. The entire team lost, but I want one of the highest paid receivers to do more. Not too much to ask.

I'm convinced. Most of the posters of this site are mentally incapable of understanding the game of football. Dez sucks now? He only runs outs & flys by design of OC & the OC's play calling. Not Dez's fault. However if he came out & complained about the play calling he would considered a cancer. Jason Witten would never receive this much hate. Btw Jason sucked yesterday. No one calling for him to be traded. I wonder why???? Hmmmm...

Not that I think we should trade Dez, but people have called out Witten based on his lack of elusiveness. Nevertheless, Witten does what fans expect him to do, which is to get open and catch the ball. And he does that regularly. We don't expect him to run for 20 yards because he's not that kind of tight end.

We, DO however, expect Dez to contribute more than just one catch in a game. I don't know the full reason he's not more involved. But my guess is it's a combination of the coaches not being creative with ways to get him the ball and Dez not always running the right routes. This was a knock on him earlier in his career. I have to believe that that's a part of it. I don't want to believe that the Cowboys staff simply can't get the ball to one of its star receivers.

As shown in another thread, at least for one week, part of Dez's disappearance Sunday might possibly be because of how he was used. Now certainly, he should have made one or two of those tough catches on Sunday. But when half the passing plays he's involved in are simply go routes, it makes you wonder what exactly his role was Sunday.

Witten does fit the aging part. I knew the defense would come about Witten. I'd agree Witten is untouchable, much like Dez should be.

If you are implying what I think you're implying then you are being silly. If your fears were valid then people would have a problem with 70% of the team? Get outta here with that mess.
Sorry there's not a mega like button for this one. Didn't know sharpton was in the house.

Salary cap. Can't trade.
I thought if you trade him the team takes on the salary and his salary cap numbers are off the books. That's a big part of my initial thought would be if we're rebuilding with no Romo and someone offered us a #1 or #2 AND took his salary off the books then I'd do it.

Disclaimer : I love Dez, Dez is the greatest human being ever, this is just a hypothetical discussion to kill time inbetween games, Relax and take a deep breath.

They first need to be more innovative in how they use dez, but I doubt they do that.

Tony Romo gets more undeserved hate than any player I've ever seen my life. You'd have to have a room temperature IQ to miss it.

Doubt it. There is no Tony hate here, & I'm his biggest fan. When has Tony been called names? Just because there is a collective conscience on an issue doesn't make it right. I'm willing to bet you think Kneeling for the national anthem is disrespectful.

You means names like "choker"? Frequently.

I'm willing to bet "kneeling for the national anthem" is a red herring meant to distract from your lack of substance here.

Tony's character has never been called into question. Dez's has. How times has he been locked again? I'll wait...mr. iq greater than room temperature

Character? You mean like when people harped on his trip to Cabo?

It doesn't take much to have an IQ greater than room temperature.
