Lots of things to talk about. The music, the concerts, the releases, Sam & Dave, the legacy, etc.

Here's Diamond Dave's funniest interview ever. This was backstage at The US Festival with MTV's Mark Goodman. For those who don't know about that legendary backstage party, If I remember correctly, VH spent 900 grand on it. The interview took place around 6pm. Dave was already drunk off his a**. They weren't scheduled to take the stage until 10pm. He said in the interview, jokingly, that he "might not be able to stad up by the time they hit the stage." He was right! According to manager Noel Monk, in his book, they had to give Dave two hits of acid and a mound of krell (their code word for coke) to sober him up to get him on stage. The whole band was trashed that night, but he was more so than ever. And his performance (vocally) showed. After talking not stop for many backstage interviews, plus snorting all that krell that makes your throat tight and numb, his voice was shot. That was his worst performance ever. The band's worst ever too, IMO. And at that time that was a record payout for any band. But judging from the crowd's reaction to them that night, they didn't care they were sloppy as hell. When the crowd goes nuts from Dave saying, "I forgot the f***** words!" You know you have them in the palm of your hands. Little did we all know back then that line was scripted for every show on that tour.
My first concert was the 1979 VHII tour. I also went to the 1980 Invasion tour, the 1981 Fair Warning tour, 1982 Diver Down and the 1984 tour. My all-time best concert was October 9th, 1981, Fair Warning tour. Dave's birthday show. My least favorite VH show was the 1982 Diver Down show. They looked and sounded burnt out by then. Vocally, Dave was half-a**ing too much for my likings. 1984 show he was better, but, imo, he started to focus too much on the showmanship side instead singing all the words. Running around, kicking, etc, he sounded out of breath. It sucks for us fans that we don't have a full length, mixed and mastered, pro-shot concert to remind us how great they were back then. All their extra money went on booze, drugs, and lawyer bills from destroying hotels. Say what you want about KISS, but at least they spent the money on videorecording several of their early shows so their fans can have something to remember them by.Ya not a big fan of that performance, and yes all scripted by ringmaster Roth. Saw them several times starting in 1979 and if memory serves correct he started that around 1980. Monks book is pretty good but by some accounts somewhat exaggerated in certain spots. Alex has a book coming out later this year which should be good.
100% agree love Van Halen but they were horrible in that regard, at least the kiss merchandise is out there for those interested. Van Halen, nothing, no box sets of those first six albums, live material with Dave, nadaMy first concert was the 1979 VHII tour. Dave is moron and prevents them from releasing anything. Hagar era is getting some releases now.100% agree love Van Halen but they were horrible in that regard, at least the kiss merchandise is out there for those interested. That's nonsense, that was 100% on the brothers. Especially Al. And no one at least the true Van Halen fans don't care about Sham hagarDave is moron and prevents them from releasing anything. Hagar era is getting some releases now.
Because and this is from their own words they just didn't think to record it. There are bits and pieces, bootlegs even Donington full show came out about a year ago and was copy striked by Kurt gooch. And as far as getting along it was Dave and the brothers, all three equally to blame. Nicest guy in the band was Mike by far. Love the band in its original form but was ruined from egos, substance abuse and dramaIf true then why isn’t anything from Dave’s era coming out? Not taking anything away from his era as it’s great stuff but he doesn’t get along well with others.
FWIW Sammy has forgot more about music than Dave ever knew.
OBVIOUSLY you have no idea who controls what. And it was Al who pull the plug on the tribute tour. And since he never played without his brother, I can't get too made at him for that.Dave is moron and prevents them from releasing anything. Hagar era is getting some releases now.

Obviously you didn’t read all of what I said. So I will just leave it here.OBVIOUSLY you have no idea who controls what. And it was Al who pull the plug on the tribute tour. And since he never played without his brother, I can't get too made at him for that.
Dave's solo albums have outsold Sammy's solo albums. Dave has 3 highly rated albums on the US Billboard top 100 chart that peaked at #4, #6 and #15. Eat 'Em & Smile peaked at #4 and Skyscraper at #6 and Crazy from the Heat at #15. Sammy's highest rated album was Three Lock Box at #17. Dave did pretty good with his solo stuff. Sammy not so much. So no, Sammy hasn't forgotten more music that Dave ever knew.
