The Brandin Cooks trade doesn't solve the problem. It is the problem!

But you are pulling the old..."I know more than you "card. Honestly I don't mind your opinion in the OP even though I disagree. It's the follow up.

Hopkins hasn't had a 1000 yard season in 2 years and was injured in both and suspended for PED use. OBJ literally will have 1-2 wow games and then he's injured or not involved. I don't think the upside of either is what you think. DHop may be on the Julio Jones trajectory where time caught up quickly. We got a good deal out of this and didn't invest much when we have Lamb. I don't get the hand wringing.
cause that's what he does.

When Brandin Cooks joins the Dallas Cowboys, he will join his 5th team in his 9-year career.

Saints, Pats, Rams, Texans, and now the Cowboys. A lot of folks on here are caught up by a name they recognize and a player some wanted during the season, last year. And I'll be the first to admit that Brandin Cooks is a NICE player, he isn't what this team needs.

This team needs an offensive weapon. A "game wrecker" of sorts. Not another nice WR that will fight for number 2 touches in our offense.

It points to the obvious blind spot in the front office that most of here can see but some are blinded too as well.

IMO settling for anything short of DHop or OBJ is just that. Settling.
In a few sentences you completely contradicted everything you were trying to argue about. This is the case of someone wanting to argue even though he knows he has ZERO chance of being right on this one.

You said it yourself. “People want a name they recognize” uhhhhhhh like OBJ or DHOP. People don’t recognize Cooks anywhere close to those two.

Have you compared the stats between the three players? Cooks numbers are better than OBJs, and he doesn’t have 2 ACL injured knees.

Sure DHOP would’ve been nice, but not for a second round pick and close to 20 million. They don’t have that type of money if they want to keep the young core that they have. If it were just the pick, sure. Or if it were just the money, maybe. But not both!!!

Settling? So settling doesn’t matter if it’s for a washed up hurt deva that everyone knows used to be good? Settling doesn’t matter if it means thinking you’re going to get a win now guy at the end of the first round? In case you hadn’t looked. There aren’t a lot of choices in todays WR market.

Cooks is a solid pick up. And for a 5th and a 7th, it’s a great pickup.

You may be right, but I’d wager we’ll get more out of Cooks than we would have got out of those other two, and for a lot less money.

Cooks will stretch the field, and help Lamb’s targets.
True that bro. My issue with Cooks is his age, wear-n-tear and lack of height (5'10"). I have several Texans fans cousins who are glad he's no longer on their Texans team considering his age, wear-n-tear and the amount of money he was getting paid ($18+ mil in 2022 for only 699 yards receiving and only 3 TDs) and scheduled to get paid these next two years.

its an amazing move and exactly what was needed to address an actual problem, not a wanted player.

people love to confuse the 2 and can't see how they step over themselves in order to discuss it.

If this prevents OBJ from coming to Dallas Im ok with it. I would have preferred Parris Campbell upside and/or Mack Hollins ability to high point deep balls. And far more savings on contracts.

Did you just say a guy with six 1,000 yard receiving seasons is marginally better than a career special teamer?

You’re struggling to see the difference in production? Man have you looked at their career logs?
EXACTLY!!!!! The OP post and the post you replied to are reasons why people think Cowboys fans ain’t too bright…marginally better than Noah Brown. That was Dave Chappelle-level comedy gold right there.

Did they mention that Davis Mills is a horrible QB? or the fact that outside of Cook no WR or TE has done anything. Cook has no help for any other WR or TE on that team and a QB who ranks at the bottom of the league?

You'd better hope Cooks gets at least 1k yards and 6 TDs receiving here for that pay.

How do you know that with OBJ?

By the time the season starts he will be almost 4 years removed from his last top season, and 7 years removed from his last elite level season.

And there is no way to know what affect 4 years and 2 knee surgeries will have had on him. It would be very rare for someone to come back after that and be the same player they were at their best.
And since his production is completely dependent on extreme athleticism, there's a good chance his production will wane sharply w/ age and injuries.

What big play is Cooks known for last season? I'll wait....I do remember him giving a similar obj temper Tamtrum about wanting to be traded and then even after not being traded taking 2 more games off for "personal reasons." Every one is so focused on the stats. What did being a top ranked offense get us the last few years. Oh that's right a participation trophy. Stats are overrated. Moments matter.

Oh sure, a forged in fire NCO is a lousy soldier because he is now with his fourth unit over the past three years...oh, you bet.

He and Eric Dickerson are the ONLY players in the HISTORY of the NFL to be traded 4 times.
Maybe it says something to their talent level, and not necessarily why teams want to trade them away. A good offer can't be turned down at times. Texans want to move in another direction.
Many other players are not retained in FA, and go to numerous teams, 4 or more. But yet they still can contribute.
Texans may just want to clear some cap space. As did Dallas with Cooper last year.

No wonder this thread grew to ten pages in less than three hours. I was a DeAndre Hopkins proponent but the Brandin Cooks acquisition is a quality one. He is definitely qualified as a receiving 'offensive weapon'.
