The Brandin Cooks trade doesn't solve the problem. It is the problem!

Beckham spent last year out of football drugging himself up on airplanes, and has 2 bad wheels. At his peak he was a gamebreaker, but it's fair to question how much he has left. He hasn't gone over 1000 yards since 2019, or over 1100 yards since freaking 2016.

Cooks isn't a gamebreaker, but all the guy has done is produce.
I was going to be crossing my fingers strongly if we decided to go with Beckham. I don't feel as much of a need with Cooks. Sure, he may fail, but there was more to be concerned about with Beckham at this point.

The real question here is will the Cowboys properly utilize Cooks in the offense? I don’t think Dallas does a very good job in utilizing talent to realize their maximum potential. How long did it take Pollard to start getting meaningful carries during last season when clearly outperformed Zeke? So whether it’s Hopkins, OBJ, Cooks or whomever, they have to utilized properly to contribute in order to elevate Dak’s performance.

When Brandin Cooks joins the Dallas Cowboys, he will join his 5th team in his 9-year career.

Saints, Pats, Rams, Texans, and now the Cowboys. A lot of folks on here are caught up by a name they recognize and a player some wanted during the season, last year. And I'll be the first to admit that Brandin Cooks is a NICE player, he isn't what this team needs.

This team needs an offensive weapon. A "game wrecker" of sorts. Not another nice WR that will fight for number 2 touches in our offense.

It points to the obvious blind spot in the front office that most of here can see but some are blinded too as well.

IMO settling for anything short of DHop or OBJ is just that. Settling.
Lamb is your game wrecker. You're two and three are guys that either exploit weak coverage because teams are keying too much on Lamb, or they are good enough to keep teams from keying on Lamb. Cooks accomplishs that

I’m not too sure Cooks is that much better than Noah Brown. Marginally yes, but not some big upgrade that is going to take us to the next level. Happy with the trade details but I’m struggling to see the real difference in the production. I think that’s why a lot of people wanted obj or hopkins. When ceedee lamb struggles or is quiet in a random game can Cooks take over and get us the production we need to win that tough game? I really don’t see it happening. Love to be wrong though.
I dont think thats what the trade was for, they paid MG for a reason and I have no doubt this FO is expecting pre injury MG to be back. Cooks will be used to stretch also but more of a co #2 with MG. NOW saying that the big questions is of course what MG will show up this year. The FO was never looking for a WR to come in and outshine #88...its real easy there can only be one #88 and JJ gets to pick who wears it :)

It should have a greater effect than bringing in Hilton did, but Cooks is a better receiver at this point. I kind of look at it as 2016 Cole Beasley with the ability to go deep. That's probably a poor comparison, but Cooks is a prolific receivers, usually average 80-90 catches per year. We used Beasley to attack teams underneath because they wanted to take away the vertical game with Bryant (particularly) and Williams. We can now make teams pay for trying to do the same with Lamb and Gallup. Now, I don't know how much McCarthy is going to change up how he uses the receivers, how much West Coast he's going to incorporate, but it's certainly not going to hurt not going to hurt to have another receiver who has shown he can put up big numbers. If he's healthy (which he mostly has been), this gives us what we were hoping to see in 2021 with Cooper, Lamb and Gallup ... and never got to see because of injury.
I think that last part is the key question how much of this offense will be WCO. McCarthy has said 30% different but I tend to think it will be more than 30%. His entire career has centered around the WCO

Completely agree. I don’t believe in Gallup as a #2 even before the injury. He makes great catches which is why I like him as a #3. Our FO paid him as a #2 but he isn’t that,

He looked like he could be but i will agree that he has not fully taken that spot yet in his career. The other thing for the trade was #88 i think, they upgraded for sure and I'm guessing they expect Lamb to get more exsplosive with Cooks and a full health MG..we will for sure see if it works.

The defense crapped the bed? Lol
oops wrong year that was against the Rams where they were gashed by run2021 was the year of 14 penalties and the defense couldnt get off the field in second half. I realize you guys love to pin it all on 1 guy except of course when it was the previous guy then you got all kinds of excuses. Its never just 1 thing

Ice cream is too cold.

Lol.

It’s a good trade.

I think the contract has an out after 2023.

It’s basically a one year deal?
Yes, it's a team option in 2024. They also got Houston to pay 6 million this year, where is cap charge is very affordable at 12.

Completely disagree.

I’d love to have Hopkins but I watched Amari Cooper here as well and I know a top wideout won’t mean as much as a explosive run game.

Cooks is perfect. Lamb is ascending into a top 5 wideout if he isn’t there already. Lamb is the guy.

We have an elite WR with 2 compliments that are likely both top 25-30 players at their position.

One of the biggest issues at WR has been the lack of speed and ability to take the top off defenses.

He will absolutely be able to do that. He will help take some of the pressure off teams trying to focus on CD.

True that bro. My issue with Cooks is his age, wear-n-tear and lack of height (5'10"). I have several Texans fans cousins who are glad he's no longer on their Texans team considering his age, wear-n-tear and the amount of money he was getting paid ($18+ mil in 2022 for only 699 yards receiving and only 3 TDs) and scheduled to get paid these next two years.
Cooks missed five games with the Texans. One his first year there and then four games of last season where he wanted them to trade him. Frankly I think they promised to trade him and then didn't do it last year out of greed for a 2nd round pick.

you cannot have a conversation with any Romo related with him he is too far obsessed with the dude. You are correct BTW
I know man he’s ridiculous. It’s so crazy talking about Romo on this site and now they view when thus far they’ve had similar careers. Just weird.

Fanbase is never happy. People are screaming for a speedy receiver, get one and it's not enough. Look at what Cooks was traded for outside of the Cowboys trade, 1st and 2nd rd picks, he is a very valuable receiver.
they want 22 pro bowlers and spend 500mil against this year's cap so it cost us the next 5 drafts and full rebuilding mode in 1yr..its what madden fantasy football fan types think is doable.. they have zero sense of reality., dude on FB told me he can fix this team in 3 years guaranteed into a sb if they let him be the GM LMAO..fans live in FF land. monopoly money and anything goes.

I mean no one knows for sure... but I know enough about football and watch enough tape to feel very confident in it.
What does knowing something about football have to do with his injury, and what tape have you seen since his last knee surgery?
