The Brandin Cooks trade doesn't solve the problem. It is the problem!

No, in 2014 they finally had an all-pro line at every position instead of journeymen OL masquerading as quality and Bill Callahan’s RB schemes, unlike what was thrown out there with Houck and guys like Julius Jones running into the back of OL. In 2014, they were a downfield, big chunk passing attack, built off the run with little play-action, play action used for, once again, not as a staple of the offense, but a feature to attack downfield. Once again, that offense was predicated on big play ability and both Dez and TWill were 2 of the top 3 WRs in go routes caught. That’s a myth, 2014 was conservative.. it just ran the ball effectively well and they had no need to protect the QB, what they needed was to take the pressure off him to make these happens.

And we don’t need to “protect the defense”, as this defense was the 5th ranked scoring defense and had multiple scores. The defense has clearly been our best asset.
I’m just telling you what McCarthy wants to do. They want to control clock and protect their quarterback and defense like they did with Romo. Romo went on to have the best season of his career.

Yeah I didn’t want to lol I’m on my phone but yeah this team needed a Cooks. They replaced Noah Brown with Brandin Cooks and people are complaining lol.
LOL... you think they traded and are paying Cooks 12mm next year to be our 4th WR??

I've been wondering about that myself. Best conclusion I can come up with is that he's being paid to much for a #2 WR. Since we get him for #2 WR pay(13 mil/per), maybe it'll work out fine?

BTW, he was voted team MVP in 21, so it appears his teammates like him.
Ridiculous conclusion

Plus this is the 1st time he will be playing next to someone with Lamb's skill set . . . with the Rams all 3 wrs were undersized clones.

He compliments this team and this team compliments him
and his salary is Gallup like and he cost us a diet coke and bag of pretzels. Anyone saying this is a bad trade is simple out in LF.

I’m not too sure Cooks is that much better than Noah Brown. Marginally yes, but not some big upgrade that is going to take us to the next level. Happy with the trade details but I’m struggling to see the real difference in the production. I think that’s why a lot of people wanted obj or hopkins. When ceedee lamb struggles or is quiet in a random game can Cooks take over and get us the production we need to win that tough game? I really don’t see it happening. Love to be wrong though.
Dude. Give up your football card.

OP talking about fans only liking Cooks because he’s a name and then claiming OBJ is the answer. Idiotic.
OBJ has proven, that when healthy (which he is), he is a top-tier WR in this league. Plan and simple.

I'm not obsessed with "names" if i were, they wouldn't be OBJ and DHop. They are elite WRs who are "available".

True, but he also produced greatly for each of those teams before they unloaded him. We get 1,000-plus yards from him, then we should be having a pretty good season. And we certainly could have used a receiver stepping up for us in the San Fran game since Gallup and Hilton did not, so maybe having him would have been the difference between winning and losing. I don't know. I'm just happy we made a quality move at the position.

I"m a Brandin Cooks fan... but 4 teams have unloaded him. Obviously, they see or know something about him.

The last time I saw OBJ on a football field, he was the BEST PLAYER ON IT.

and that was in the Super Bowl with elite talent all around him.
it was also 2 years ago and he was not better than cooper Kupp who had 92 yards and 2 touchdowns….

Did you just say a guy with six 1,000 yard receiving seasons is marginally better than a career special teamer?

You’re struggling to see the difference in production? Man have you looked at their career logs?
I don't think I've ever seen a more inane comment w/ all my years on Dallas Cowboys message boards. I mean, that is most likely the most ridiculous statement I've ever seen.

they did improve the team with those two trades. They are better. I just don't think it's enough.

Imagine if instead of Vander Esch it was Wagner and instead of Cooks it was Hopkins. Does that team beat the 49ers? They might. I'd put them right there with anyone in the NFC.

But does this team win that game? No.
This is a better way to say what I am trying to say. Well put.
