giving tony romo a 100 million dollar contract is arguably the worst extension in the history of the nfl.
Of course not, but since everyone of his apologists is so fond of pointing out, he is not going anywhere.I would be all for blowing it up, but the coaches would have to go too. But then you gotta ask yourself....Do you trust in Jerry to rebuild it?
And you would be wrong. Please people.

The Niners and Seahawks built the core of those teams while bottom feeding and drafting in the top of the draft also, genius. Teams all over the league passed on the likes of Sherman (5th round) and Wilson (3rd round).
That's not to say that those teams haven't done a decent job of drafting LATELY, but neither have the Cowboys. But, by all means, continue your whinefest.
why do you have to insult because we disagree?
You obviously took out of context my comment. (whinefest?)
But think what what you want. agree to disagree.
First let me state that I think Tony Romo is a great QB and he is absolutely capable of winning a SB with the right team. I just don't think the Cowboys are that team right now.
So what would you think about this:
We blow it up in 2014. The Cowboys are a pretty young team with the exception of Romo, Ware and Witten. Let's say we trade Tony for a late first (KC?) or an early 2nd and another pick (Hou?), we trade Witten for a 3rd (NE, Atl, KC) and we cut or trade Ware. That would give us an additional 3 or 4 high picks and help us a lot capwise.
In free agency, I would do absolutely nothing and would let Hatcher and Spencer go, that would give us some comp picks for the next year.
In the Draft, we go heavy on the front 7 on the Defensive side and unless one of the top 3 QBs falls to us in the first we draft one in the 3th, 4th round (Boyd, McCarron).
That leaves us with 1 rookie QB and 4 or 5 new defensive players on the defense in the first 3 rounds of the draft. The rest I assume will be safeties from small schools.
We head into training camp with the same offense minus Tony and with 3 or 4 new young starters on the defense and a much better cap situation. And here's the thing, we start the rookie QB the whole season.
Now two things can happen, if the rook is any good we probaly get another 8-8 season but with a huge upside. If he is bad we probably have a top 5 pick in 2015 and we get Winston or whoever is the top QB. If that is the case we should also have a new coaching staff (wooo).
We then go after 2 or 3 top free agents plus the Draft and are ready to roll in 2015.
What do you guys think?
I guess I should have said "IMO". He had two separate back problems this year requiring surgery sandwiched around some seriously bruised ribs which required numbing for him to play effectively. So, there may have been some time during the season when he was 100%, like maybe the Denver game, but the guy who "could make all the throws" was having problems getting the ball down field most of the season, and it showed in his yards per attempt drop-off.
Having said that, even if I knew we were getting the exact same Romo back next season, I still wouldn't dream of trading him until we have someone who can beat him out, making him too expensive to carry as a backup.
Who thinks to make an undrafted free agent who's never done anything as your starting QB for the Dallas Cowboys? Jerry does. In the last 20 years, only 1 guy has been undrafted and won a Super Bowl. So if your plan is to become rich by playing the lottery, then you're Jerry Jones the GM.
That's not how you find a QB. You find a QB in the draft. Anywhere from 1st through the 3rd, and not by reaching for a projected 4th round guy. Yeah it's been cute, it's been kinda fun at times, but the bad out weighs the good with Romo. And yes, I'm a well known Romo hater, and that will NEVER change unless he wins a Super Bowl which I predicted he wouldn't even come close to doing, and 5 years running, I'm still right. Not win it, but even come close.
We need to put some serious effort in finding a QB who will help us win at all cost.
My bad. You're absolutely correct. Apologies your way, RSdm20.
What about going full on tank and not waste a pick in this years draft on a QB, start a scrub and use the picks to build up the D & O lines (depth), tank 2014 completely so they get the #1 pick to draft Jameis Winston in 2015 (assuming he's the best option and comes out early)

You want to blow the team up while considering who the architect of the new team is going to be?And you don't remember that Jerry did not try to find a legit QB either. He lucked in to Romo. And Romo was really just a good QB, not a Super Star QB. Jerry puts all his energy in to guys like Dez and Felix, and Claibourne. He doesn't even care about the QB position. He thinks just because a guy puts of multiple 300 yard passing games, he's found a QB. Pulease. If Jerry ever decides to go first round on a QB inside of 2 decades, then call me.
Not sure about that, but I can all but guarantee the buyers remorse for this will be intense for a very very long time.
