The costly Lance trade

All I did was say I'd like to see that list.

So far you haven't provided one.
Well, there's been 2 in the last two years in Trance and Mingo.

Barron, though it was bust for bust.

Cassell. Just a stupid trade.

I thought the Amari trade was very dumb, though he wasn't a bust.

Tavon Austin.

The only trade I can think of that we won was the Parsons trade, trading back a spot or 2 and picking up an extra 3rd. Sure was dangerous though.

He might I think he got better this year but you’re right picking him where we did was dumb
That is so easy to say but the Cowboys wanted him and didn't think he would be there in the 3rd.

Will he ever be worth a 2? Hard to say but the answer is probably no in the eyes of the fans. So many people made up their mind about immediately when he was drafted and nothing will be able to change it. Some of what drives that is TE's are judged by receptions and touchdowns. Schoon isn't that guy, but he did show he could be if targeted. That wasn't the primary reason he was drafted by the Cowboys.

You clearly didn't understand the Cooper trade. It's FAR FAR too early to make any judgement on the Mingo trade.

We have won many trades the last couple of years. You just don't want to see them. Cooks. Gilmore. Guyton. Hendershot (depends on who they get). Hankins and Thomas (got in same trade). Parsons...

Which was why it was a bad pick. You can find lots of players later in the draft to serve as blockers and short yardage receivers
when you use a second it is go get a guy who can really be a threat in the passing game. Schoon will NEVER be that

We are left wondering what the heck was the logic behind this trade.

Not his size and ability. And they felt he could develop into a receiving TE. He showed he could when Ferg was out.

It's unlikely we will ever know. There will always be an endless number of theories. But the truth? Probably never sees the light of day.

And the truth won't be any kind of explanation Jerry gives. I don't trust anything he says any further than I can throw my house.

I am still shocked he hasn’t played. I don’t want to hear about the Rush gives them a better chance to win crap. Rush is terrible. Lance might be worse but let’s see it. This team is so mind numbingly stupid.

Didn't know that DeMarcus Lawrence, Trevon Diggs, and Marshawn Kneeland were also backup TEs. That's awesome
Yes because they literally take a backup TE every year. Jesus the pedantry around here is thick sometimes.

he flashed some but shown? still debatable. Second rd picks should not be taken based on potential.
IT was a dumb pick.

We definitely have had success in drafting and we have had some misses but Dallas obviously dropped the ball trading a 4th for a 3 string QB. Resign Rush, and then kept Trey on the roster for $5 mil to let him possibly roll out next year. The Mingo trade was another head scratcher. Id increased Turpin and Tolbert usages and kept that fourth, knowing I am getting 4 comps smh.

You and I disagree on that draft. Not sure if your a pro draft guy or a pro Jerry guy but at least you have stuck to your guns with the 22 draft

I hated both 1st and 2nd round pick I think we have rehashed it enough for the reasons why

Funny thing is I don’t think schoon has been the blocker they thought they were getting but at least in this fan’s mind it was stupid pick

I will admit that I seen improvement this year but marginal and the guy I wanted hasn’t exactly tore it up in Buffalo

I dont mind trading a pick, but we keep doing it for guys who have busted already. Lance halfway made sense, maybe, but Mingo is mind numbing.
Or some rehab project whose stock plummeted due to a serious injury in their final collegiate season.
Still amazes me till this day this front office decided not to draft any RBs. The RB class last year was pretty stacked.
Well, I suppose the 2 football genius here felt differently about it. Thirty years of failures and nothing to to show for it. Jerry and Stephen are the only thing that's been around for the last 30 years. They have made this team the laughing stock of the NFL.

He is obviously worse. That is why he is not playing. He is more athletic, so he must have a hard time learning the offense or more likely reading a defense.

Who would have known that reading a defense would be a problem after playing 1 year in college.

Statistically, I don't think there much difference in player talent drafted in rounds 4-7. Teams are pretty much guessing on players at this point in the draft. Furthermore, a surprising number of undrafted free agents have a better chance of making the team than players drafted in rounds 4-7. Undrafted free agents can pick their team of choice with the best opportunity of getting practice and playing time and making the team.
It is like feeding mushrooms crap story.
Feed people enough of it, they will soon believe it. Just like a fan jumps on a player about being a bust from day 1. Without ant proof whatsoever. And keep harping on it. then other chime in to follow suit. Most just to sound cool. Then most everyone will believe it.

So the draft is now the same way.
Fans think rounds 4 through 7 are crap. Remember when the draft was 12 rounds. Back then they claimed you got premium players in rounds 4 through 7 or 8 and could create your depth and future players. rounds 8 or 9 through 12 were your throw away take flyers picks. And dang, if you got a FA wow. Remember Drew Pearson was a UDFA after 12 rounds. I think in the 60's they had 18 rounds.

So now many believe a 4th round is a gamble. How things have changed. Now granted, players coming out of college are much better prepared for the NFL as well, in much better physical condition. But how much better? Probably not as much. Because TC's now are notting compared to back then, when they actually worked their way into condition.

Also back then they owned a players rights for life basically. And some teams had 20 players on IR to stash them.
Dallas did not relinquish rights to Roger Staubach until 10 years after he retired.

No. Players in round 4-7 are not crap. Talent-wise there just isn't a lot of difference in players drafted 4-7 and undrafted free agents. Still plenty of talent in that area, just hard to pinpoint it.
