All 32 teams can put together a list of draft picks that didn’t work out as hoped.
Yup. However, that's not what it's about. Drafting is about filling needs and making yourself super bowl contenders. We simply suck at that. Sure, we find an occasional star like CD or Parsons, but there's way too many Kelvins and Trystens and Schoonmakers. And in the meanwhile, we still cannot stop the run.

And pointing at other team's warts doesn't make yours less ugly.

The biggest problem beyond incompetence is the plan. Never spend much in FA except to resign our own. Never go for a top FA. NEVER really fill big holes using FA.
That puts more pressure on the Draft and causes more reaches.
Mazi is THE example of that.
Using a 2nd on Schoon was DUMB. Both the player and the position. Neither justified that pick.
Taking chances on injured players with high picks. LVE and Jaylon and others.
Drafting players with an injury history in college.

EVERYTHING is flawed.

Couldn't agree more.

Think about it. In 2020 we couldn't stop the run. 31st in the NFL. Soooooooooooooooooo, what did we do about it? A 6th round stiff at DT. That's simply pee poor drafting.

So, fast forward. What happened in 21? Run D was a bit better at 16th. But then what happened in the playoffs? Couldn't stop the run in a playoff loss to SF. And what did we do about it? A 5th round stiff at DT. I mean, you can't make this tish up.

Now 2022. Run D was 22nd. And lost to SF in the playoffs because we can't stop the run.

2023? Run D at 16. Tried a 1st rounder at DT this time. And how did this turn out? Lost to GB because WE CAN'T STOP THE RUN. And we made the DT lose like 30 lbs and played him out of position.

Those of you who keep claiming that we are still drafting well and that Jerry is in any way a competent GM, explain this to me. Same problem, year after year, no real attempt to fix it. Key on "real". We did try Mazi, a 1st round project DT w/ poor movement skills. Who, BTW, we tried to make into a pass rusher. To repeat, you can't make this tish up. Just extreme incompetence.

What next? Let me guess, a WR in the 1st round. Maybe a CB. Yeah, people will proclaim "we needed a WR/CB." As we lose once again because we can't stop the run.

Two fourth rounders for bust in two consecutive years.

You Jerry fan boys are a trip. Please go on..
That's not what you said but whatever.

I actually consider that an insult you called me a Jerry fan boy. You obviously haven't been reading any of my posts the last few years. Tells me all I need to know. But by all means, Please go on..

We have not upgraded critical positions with the draft.
And since the front office refuses to get serious about FA, the Draft remains the only place we can do so
Thus drafts like mazi and schoon and so on are horrible

No. The Cowboys have only drafted 1 TE in the 2nd round in the last 10 drafts.

So how you drew your conclusion is beyond me because it doesn't make any sense.
singling out TE was wrong as we only did that stupidity once
however the repeated failures at the #2 pick considering our lack of FA pickups is horrible

I literally said we keep trading for busts. Not sure how adding in every other move they've made somehow erases that fact in your mind.

There’s major holes in the 22, and if they didn’t get that position in the draft because “it didn’t fall that way,” they just leave it.

Finally Zimmer had to tell them that they needed DTs in August, and we see what was left by then.

Would rather leave the team ripe for exploitation than overpay for another teams player. Also no consideration that draft picks may not be ready to contribute immediately.

Pure incompetence.
