You've got it backwards. If you look at individual situations, it may not hold true. But if you look at football as a whole, it's certainly true. The evidence is there. It's overwhelming.BraveHeartFan;2735390 said:While I certainly believe a good, effective, passing game is pretty important I'm sure there are quite a few superbowl teams that would disagree that it's the most important.
I mean our team alone wouldn't have agreed with that during their 3 wins in 4 years. Our passing was nice but it was pretty clear that without Emmitt (as proven in the first two games of 93) that team doesn't function nearly as well, and doesn't win 3 Superbowls in 4 years.
The Giants teams that have won would completely disagree with the idea that passing is the most important.
It's all important, for sure, but I'm not sure passing is more important than the running game or defense. Maybe that's just me though.
Especially if you look at football across the board, not just in the NFL, then that statement absolutely doesn't hold true. Way too many high school teams out there (And yes they count as part of the game in my humble opinion) that run offenses that are 95% run and win state championships with that.
why? everybody knows the passing game is the most important part of a football team....bbgun;2735396 said:I'd be much more tempted to trade Felix for a really good defensive player.

You do realize that defenses have to defend against the pass don't you? So, if your opponent's passing game is their most important aspect, then your pass defense should be yours.Rampage;2735402 said:why? everybody knows the passing game is the most important part of a football team....

no way man. theogt has "stats" to show that the passing game is the most important part of a football team.......5Stars;2735409 said:The most important part of a football team is the guy that knows how to utilize both the passing and running game depending on the opposing team...nothing more.
That is why it called a "game".
Oh noes! Itz da statz!!!11Rampage;2735411 said:no way man. theogt has "stats" to show that the passing game is the most important part of a football team.......

i'd rather be passed by a qb since it's more important.....5Stars;2735418 said:Well, when football was invented, they did just run, mostely.
Then the passing game opened up the whole thing to what it is today.
Think of it this way. If you had to go somewhere REALLY FAST, would you rather run, or catch a plane?

that's not true. see the buffalo game in 20075Stars;2735428 said:Actually, what you just said is true!
The QB is the most important part of a football game. If he cannot pass the ball, then the team is not going nowhere! He can always "hand off" to a running back....see what he can do.

exactly because passing is the most important part of a football team.Hostile;2735439 said:I think it is more likely that Jerry would move up in the Draft to take Hakeem Nicks (a physical WR like Bolden) than it would be to go after Boldin and pay him the money it would take plus give up a player the team covets back to do it.
