If that one dimension keeps our offense off the field and scores points, it's all they need.

I hear you and its valid but.........dicating how your opposition plays us has to help rather than "wait and see".

I look back to 2016 and our D was garbage. We basically ram the ball on O to control the time of possession just to keep them off the field. The Steelers game was a classic example of a D that stopped nothing.

So back to 2022, our "weakness" is run D but forcing the opposition to be run-centric will help big time IF we get ahead in games and their game plan gets ripped up.

I'm all for making other offenses one dimensional, if we can keep them out of the end zone and our offense can get into it.

My thoughts.....and it's simplistic I admit. Its really hard to run consistently and pick up 7. A flag here, negative yards run there and you either punt or kick for 3. Teams can't CONSISTENTLY put up 7 on us drive after drive.

The cap era makes teams pick their strength and weaknesses and I like our decision making on D......at least for now.

We haven’t given up a lot of points, but we have given up the 7th most rushing yards. That’s not based off of one game. We’ve given up 140+ rushing yards in at least three games this season. It’s hard to keep everyone out of the end zone, we saw that against Chicago. Philly put up 26 points on us and one reason was they were able to run the football, especially late in the fourth quarter. We have to get better against the run or it will catch up with us in the playoffs if we make the playoffs. We could end up running into San Francisco again, and it could be a repeat of what we saw last year in the playoffs.
Oh yes, the double edged sword, pick your poison debate.

i think the bears are doing that to everyone…
True, but we were too susceptible to it, and it gave a blueprint on how to beat us...or at least how to take advantage of our aggressiveness. I'm sure DQ's on the case.

I'll take it! I watched a sorry NYG team win the SB with a trash team, except for a fire pass rush. DAL has an even better pass rush group, plus a very good secondary. They just have to come to play in the game games and show out.

Cowboys defense is fine. All the nay sayers are crying about the Eagles one second half drive and Chicago/Tampa running the ball on us. We were ahead 28-7 against Chicago we had them under control. The Tampa game our offense gave us nothing all games and the defense wore down. The Eagles game they scored on one drive average 3.5 yards a play. The defense is Super Bowl caliber.

I don’t give a good bowel movement what our rank is for the run, the pass, pass rush, turnovers, sacks, or anything else. It’s all nice, and I’d love to have a historic defense that people talk about like the 85 Bears or the 2000 Ravens. Neither Doomsday nor the Purple People Eaters nor the Killer Bees rank that high. In today’s NFL with today’s rules and salary cap, we may never see those totally dominant defenses ever again.

I love everything our defense is doing well, but frankly, the only thing I really care about is points allowed and team wins. With this team’s overall speed and pass rush, there’s no reason we shouldn’t keep the points allowed at or below 20 if the offense doesn’t give up points.

dallas defense is good, but keep in mind most of the teams we have played are not that good this year.
the one team that was good, beat dallas and did move the ball on dallas.

not that many good teams this year, so really need to wait until playoffs to see how good dallas defense really is.
Seems like most all the teams in nfc that were top playoff teams last year are struggling this year on offense.

Yeah the Bengals and Giants are terrible teams. While the Lions and Bears have bad offenses. The Cowboys defense has proven nothing.

Cowboys won by 20.

If Cowboys have 3 score lead and teams want to continue to run the ball thne more power to them.

Cowboys will take that every Sunday.
Like I said, other teams (with better QBs) will take what Chicago did and build on it. Maybe they won't be successful, but if they have a decent run game and a better passing game than the Bears, they could make it a much closer game... especially if their defense doesn't allow Dak to do what he did against Chicago, which seems absolutely likely.

Only TB has taken advantage of the Cowboys.

Eagles got lucky.

If Dak played, they lose.

Cowboys D had Eagles on the ropes in 2nd half. Cowboys just could not score quickly enough.
