I'm thinking it has to be head coach and waterboy because our guys never looked prepared and perhaps they were dehydrated....

I'm pleased they aren't falling for Butler. It would be a major step back thinking he could fill in for TWill. I would bring Butler back at a low contract # but certainly not as the #2 outside WR.

There are tons of options now in FA at WR. Some better players than TWill, if we aren't bringing him back.

Definitely talking about CB and WR.

If we simply maintain what we are on defense then that is a major fail.

I don't see how they "maintain". They'll be adding draft picks plus out of the injured trio of Lawrence, Tapper & J. Smith there ought to give more production than what they gave in '16.

In addition you have two young players in Irving and Collins who offer maybe bigger things in 2017.

B. Jones and Mayowa could offer improvement also.

Out of all the players on defense I can only think of one, Sean Lee, who may be headed towards a decline due to age.

No... I don't see the defense "standing pat".

Agreed.

WR is one of the easier positions to fill due to FA.

If the defense is not improved this offseason then it is a major fail.

There is nothing controversial about the statement and everyone knows it to be true.

Who said anything about it being done in F.A. by finding someone worth paying?
Ok. Then who?
Is there a secret list of free agents we don't know about or are we counting on old guys getting cut in camp.

A major fail would be if we had the opportunity to make a significant upgrade and we didn't do it.
Where are all the guys who would actually upgrade our defense? Our best hope is internal and the gamble aka draft.

same crap every year. jerry and Stephen jones still do not value a top ranked defense. I guess he is thinking that if we have a great offense we can outscore our own defense to win games. that works in the regular season but in the playoffs defense wins championships.
So who would they need to bring in that's available for you to believe they value a top ranked defense?

The same stuff said over and over by fans while ignoring the reality that anyone available would most likely just be an overplayed version of what we already have.

Might as well not spend too much time drooling over DLs today watching the Combine.

Corners, corners, corners it is. Get your rest tonight, skip work tomorrow if you want to see our first round choice perform in Indianapolis.

we only have dez and beasley.
they need a #2 WR.
they are trying to get/keep draft capital to trade up for the DE.

and then wonder why they get burnt with no pressure and even less over-the-top help.

Man, we suck at drafting CB's..they never work out

This CB class is deep enough you can get a starter probably into the 3rd, maybe even 4th. But watch us take one in the 1st.

Even if Carr and Claiborne walked, which I don't think they both do, starting Scandrick and Brown with a FA or rookie is just instant death? Why?

@MichaelWinicki

I refuse to accept your like for predicting this upcoming disaster.

I will leave it on the doorstep. No need to ring the bell when you come back for it.

Again, FA was never mentioned.

Where are the guys that would upgrade the defense?

Internal and draft are right!

Internally I suspect the DL will be improved simply by DLaw not being suspended Tapper being available and progress made by the Mayowa, Irving etc.

If Jaylon is added then that is a major upgrade.

Draft a CB and a SS with premium picks and choose the right guys and you have made major upgrades to the secondary.

I expect the defense to be upgraded at all 3 levels and I think we will see a ton of improvement.

listening to jerry's comment, sounds like they will sign carr or a FA CB who is better.
oscan did not look that good last year...
i think they are saving/gathering draft resources to trade up for a DE
they probably decided FA DEs are too expensive or not good enough.
so they are going after it with the draft by trading up, even though round 1 DEs are normally not great in rookie year.
they could also be looking at a round 1 pass rushing DT.

Until we sign Butler, imo it would be a waste to trade up for a pass rusher, unless something drastic happens. I want young(I admit unproven) depth and as many picks as we can get. WR, DE, 1 tech, linebacker, guard, tackle, safety, corner, heck we need picks. If I had a good offer i would trade out of the first in a heartbeat.

Every time you think this FO has reached the depths of their stupidity, they surprise you

Watch them "believe" the Lawrence and tapper and Smith will be all they need to upgrade the front 7 when not one of them can even be counted on to stay healthy

Rinse and repeat with these idiots
