Our Dbs did a hell of a job in coverage last year. Playmakers in our defense need to be at the safety position. There are not many cbs that get a lot of picks playing as much man coverage as we play(eyes are on key, which is their man, not the ball).

WRs
TWill is a decent receiver, but he doesn't compliment Dez well. We need a versatile guy to stretch the field with speed. Finding a player like this would make our offense ever more dominant.

DL
This group is what killed our defense at the end of the day. I don't think they are good vs the run or in pass rush. Sean Lee and our LBs were so good at run reads they bailed them out where we would have gotten gashed a lot more. But atleast we got them. We really need some pass rush.

same crap every year. jerry and Stephen jones still do not value a top ranked defense. I guess he is thinking that if we have a great offense we can outscore our own defense to win games. that works in the regular season but in the playoffs defense wins championships.
Yep . This interview is another reminder why we continue to be led in football operations by a football idiot.

that's all it takes in the playoffs to lose a game. not trying to be sarcastic when I say it.
Correct because in the playoffs you face the most elite QB's, offenses and defenses.

Our dominating running game and below average defense will win more games than it loses in regular season. But without that pass rush to disrupt great QB in playoffs we will struggle and we will have some issues without a prolific passing game too.

Our dominating running game without a prolific passing game would be more effective in playoffs with a great defense.

You're right about he problem. But wrong to suggest it's the passing game that can be sacrificed. We neee to maintain everything...and improve the defense. There's no reason to expect different results with a talented new QB than we got with the talented old one otherwise.

Besides that though, I don't see what people are working themselves up about here. We're going to approach this offseason the exact way we've approached the last several: backfill roster spots with value VFA signings while drafting players to develop based on ability more than on need. It's been working well for the last four or five years. I don't get what there is to be worried about now.

First of all I was suggesting that we already don't have as much of a prolific passing game as needed without a greater defense. I don't see us as sacrificing something we don't have enough of. I agree we need to maintain what we have on offense while beefing up defense .

And from Jerry's interview my take was he wasn't as concerned or placing as high a priority early in the draft on the DL as many have suggested me included. My take was with some of the off season pending signings or not we could be placing a higher priority in draft for CB and WR which IMO can be had later in draft.

I'm pleased they aren't falling for Butler. It would be a major step back thinking he could fill in for TWill. I would bring Butler back at a low contract # but certainly not as the #2 outside WR.

There are tons of options now in FA at WR. Some better players than TWill, if we aren't bringing him back.
Butler is not even worth vet minimum to me. Belongs in the CFL or Arena league, and will probably be there within 2 years
