Twitter: The Cowboys never had interest in signing Suh (Jerry)

Well, we acquired Hankins who has a great rep as a run stuffer, and unlike the two guys signed by Philly off the street, Hankins was actually playing, in shape, and getting tackles all season. Yet GB still ran on us, so maybe the problem is not the DTs inside.

He had 3 solo tackles inside vs the Bears, but only 1 assist vs GB.

You might want to look into what was actually going on with the Raiders before making dumb statements.

Maybe you should before coming at me? He was losing snaps, that's why they were okay with trading him away.

Nice attempt though?

...or maybe Hankins isn't what he used to be?

The early Cowboys teams under Landry made DT their #1 priority. Historically, their very first #1 pick in the draft was a DT, HOFer Bob Lilly.

Bob Lilly was eventually replaced at DT by the Cowboys #2 overall pick in the 1975 draft, HOFer Randy White

There may have been only one or two seasons in Tom Landry's 29 years as the Cowboys coach that he didn't have a HOF DT on his defensive line.

By the way in all the combined seasons of 1966 to 1983 no defense had less opponent rushing yards or opponent rushing TD's than the Dallas Cowboys.

That's the Jerry Jones we know and love. Best GM in the League since the day he got the job. We believe and his track record warrants that belief.

We believe in our cap allocation too. Would never leave Stephen Jones out of the flower giving.

Cowboys!

This has been his same line for well over a decade. Last decent DT we had was Ratliff for a minute and even he was undersized.

We'll never win a Super Bowl with JAGs at DT and safety.

Don't mind undersized if they can consistently be disruptive, like a Donald or Jarrett. We just need some talent at tackle. We've got multiple rotational guys and no dawgs.

I understand wanting to bring in suh as a rotation player or even to bring some nasty to the locker room but what Jerry is saying is true….we aren’t getting gashed up the middle, it’s really the edges.

Are you sure about that?

you can find highlights and isolated clips of runs up the middle sure…but if you follow the analytics and film plus the all 22 and listen to what pretty much every knowledgeable talking head says it’s the edges that have been killing us.

so yes I’m pretty sure

You can find talking heads who will confirm whatever you believe, but these images suggest it's not as simple as you're making it, despite your extensive study of the all 22.

There's an awful lot green between the tackles.

And you don't have a 28% win rate just because of edge rushes.

I don't know about Suh. Maybe he has some game left, but it's not like the Eagles signed him before the season when he was available. They waiting until they had 2 of their DTs get hurt. At the same time Jerry got Takk McKinley and Johnathan Hankins. At least he is trying to fix the run defense. Takk is a guy who can play opposite Lawrence and set turn everyting inside while Hankins eats up interior linemen and stuff the inside runs. I am not expecting miracles but I do think it will help.

The problem as others has stated is we haven't drafted a decent DT since Ratliff in 2005 and he was a 7th round pick.

I dunno. It may have mattered if they added Suh a few years ago, but now it just feels like grasping at straws when he probably doesn’t have much left.

It’s still a bad look for Dallas but does it really matter? There’s plenty of bad looks that never matter or mean a thing.

The issue is not if Suh is done or not, the issue is Jerry apparently thinking we are ok at DT after giving up 400 yards on the ground over the last two games.

The most important part about fixing a problem is recognizing a problem exist in the first place.

Our FO is stubbornly in denial of issues that appear to question their judgment. It's nothing new -- they've been doing it for a long time now. I suspect the FO didn't want to sign Suh, mainly due to the expense involved. Would Jerry and/or Stephen be anxious to admit it? Probably not. He likes his "big boys" in the middle. I'll bet Dan Quinn would love to have him available, though. o_O

Jerry selling his product and saying everything is fine is a problem. I’m familiar.

Just another thing this team would have to overcome in order to win.

Exactly and lest not forget they picked up Lindval Joseph to help on running downs. Suh and Lindval bring 20-30 snaps each to help offset their injuries.
