Could you imagine making the Wild Card game as an AFC team and having to deal with Mahomes, Allen, Herbet, Burrow, Wilson, Jackson, Carr, and then coming up the Mac Jones and Trevor Lawrence's of the world?

The NFC is the old guard with Stafford , Rodgers, and Brady holding down the fort. After that it's wide open.

The Cowboys should be thankful that all these great QBs are over on the other side, because I don't know how a Jerry Jones build team could go through a 4 game gauntlet that is the playoffs facing off with any of those 4 QBs in a row.
Don't matter if we can't figure out how to win in the playoffs.

IMO, the no-question contenders in the AFC are

-Bills
-Chiefs
-Ravens

and the maybe-contenders in the AFC are

-Chargers, if they stop Chargers'ing.
-Broncos... we'll see how much of Seattle's decline was on Russ and how much was on Schneider/Carroll.
-Dolphins, if Mike McDaniel can marry his supercharged Shanahan offense to Flores' rebuilt defense.

In the NFC, your no-question contenders are

-Rams (I'm not writing them off after one game)
-Packers

and the maybe-contenders are

-49ers (how good is Trey Lance?)
-Buccaneers (will their beat-up roster recover for the playoffs?)

Why. So they can be mediocre and draft between 17-22. I’d rather they take their beating and get some blue chippers in to help Micah.
Yeah, this is a flaw in the NFL parity plan.

When a division, or in this case a conference gets significantly stronger than the other, the strong teams in the weak division/conference get the short end of the stick. Better overall teams in the strong conference end up with a worse record and therefore, end up with higher draft picks and the cycle feeds itself.

Stronger division/conference, worse overall record, higher draft picks making it more likely to get even better.

This has played out recently with the Cowboys and the weak NFC East. Lower draft picks because of easy wins against weak opponents as a significant part of their schedule. Not sure what the NFL can do about it without overhauling the whole schedule process.

@Trendnet

Yes, because whining about Jalen Ramsey not getting dogged in the media is the same thing as the Cowboys having a better chance in the NFC.

Do some of you ever think before you post? You thought that was clever, didn't ya? lol

Definitely what a victim would post.

I think you missed my point. I was adding to what you were saying by pointing out that our division is actually tougher than realised. Not the least of which that we did very well against Mac Jones and Justin Herbert, and we got incredibly unlucky against the Chiefs and Raiders. Particularly on a particular illness front that meant we were down a few WRs in those matches, along with some crap officiating. So, to suggest that the Cowboys should be counting our lucky stars that we are in the NFC because it's "weaker" and because we'd "struggle" against the AFC is a bit ridiculous imo. Both conferences have tough teams and weak teams, and that will be played out in the course of the season.

Sorry, I mislabeled this one. I was pointing out, by jabbing at the Rams, that it takes more than just a QB. The entire Rams team played poorly, and, as such, so did Stafford. That's really the point of what I was trying to say.

Michael Vick, Randell Cummingham, Fran Tarkenton, Doug Flutie, Steve Young, John Elway. Donavan McNabb, Cam Newton

These are examples of what? I don't believe any of these QBs entered the league as first read/run QBs. Maybe Cunningham ran better than he passed early on. But I still think he was a decent passer.

Your reply has gone stale!
Rodgers has won like 12 playoff games and a SB. He's older and the 10 degree weather isn't too good for throwing the ball. Dak was in a 70 degree dome with no elements to worry about.

Rodgers has the same amount of Superbowl rings as Trent Dilpher and Nick Foles. I dont want to hear that "cold" BS excuse. Brett Favre played in the same weather as Rodgers and won more than one ring.

Try harder.....

Didn't Brett Favre lose to Eli Manning in that cold weather. Yeah even the great ones have a bad game but they at least show their capabilities by winning playoff games.

All of this praise for the AFC, mainly because of the QB's, might be a little premature.

LA, SF, AZ, GB, MIN, TB, CAR, DAL, PHL and WAS might be some interesting teams. I wouldn't go sticking a fork in the Rams because of that opening game.

The goal is to win rings not playoff banners. Brett Favre played in the same cold weather as Rodgers and got more rings than Rodgers. So let's move on to the next excuse.

I'd add us into the maybe-contenders. If we can stay healthy, I think we belong in the NFC maybe list.

So you should thank your lucky stars as well so you can post and complain about it?

Confused, didn't the NFC win the last 2 SB?

That's true but since there's only 3 or 4 great teams in the NFC our chances of making the playoffs are a lot better than in the AFC

Just getting to a championship game would be like winning the SB.....judging by the last quarter century

I'd rather rule in hell than serve in heaven. But we're really not top in the NFC. The top teams in the NFC can compete with the AFC.

Everybody keeps forgetting about the Niners because they don't have an elite QB

Those guys will be a top 4 team again

I don't think it has anything to do with an elite QB. Because no one would forget them if they were starting Garoppolo. They're not. They're starting Trey Lance. It's kind of an unknown with a QB that just runs the ball. It could be a great season, it could fall flat. Hard to predict.
