Carr played much better at the end of the year and I feel that he will carry that play into this season. If I heard correctly he lost his mother before the start 2014 season and it affected him tremendously. When you have no pass rush whatsoever how long can a DB hang with the receiver? We will see a totally different Carr out there this year if that pass rush develops as it is supposed to.

I think carr should take a paycut. But iff he doesn't how much is his replacement gonna cost and the question on whether his replacement will be better is just a guess.

I want Carr back. I just want him back at a reduced cost.

We are gunning for a Super Bowl. And Carr is better than whoever we would pick up after cuts. Sucks his price tag is so high, but I want a championship, and Carr on the team helps us win one more than Carr not on the team.

He can play a little, but he is nowhere near worth another 8m in salary or his 12.7m cap hit

That money can be used elsewhere, even if they just roll it over

He had 0 INTs last year and was ranked 90th out of 108 CBs

I would have no problem rolling with OScan, BJones, Claiborne, Patmon, White and a vet signed after cuts and camp.

I totally agree. Hopefully the Cowboys feel the same way

That's cool.

Maybe things will go that way.

I don't think the team will pay Brandon Carr $8M this season.

They didn't want to keep DeMarcus Ware, even at a reduced price, last year and DE was a bigger albatross then than CB is now.

I believe Carr will be asked to reduce his salary and that he'll agree.

We should find out within the next month.

I think the big difference between the Ware situation and he Car situation is that the Cowboys Brain Trust wrote off last season– they didn't figure they would contend and so the Ware decision was a little easier to make.

What a difference a year makes! And because they're solid contenders this season I can't see them dumping Carr. They may still aggressively push for a salary cut, but they won't release him if he doesn't agree.

I want the guy back and hope they can work something out. I want to see his salary numbers come down, but I'm not looking to open up a big question mark on a Super Bowl caliber team either.

Yes. Id love a paycut. But if that option is off the table, then overpaid is better than not having him at all and eating cap.

There sure is a lot of "curious cases" in Dallas these days.

If he had decent back-up , I would be fine with him being cut if he is not willing to play for a reasonsble salary. I can't blame him in a way. Dallas overpaid for a very average player. One of the worst FA signings in team history IMO.

But that's the point, I think he's still the best outside cornerback this team has and there's nothing proven behind him.

He does have a good measure of leverage, given the lack of anyone behind him. But that should only go so far. If he demands his full salary, I might be tempted to just release him outright. If he's willing to meet in the middle, so am I.

Carr was a solid signing, but a bit overpriced. Somehow people expect corners to be able to cover the best WRs in the league on a team with no pass rush and for our corners to shut them out. Funny how once Claiborne got injured, now Carr's the scapegoat. With no pass rush, eventually someone on the other team is going to start catching the ball.

If he takes a pay cut then, he will still be a decent corner, just not the star we paid for so dearly.

Not only that, but Carr usually covered the other team's best WR. Having to cover WR1's with no pass rush? That's a really tall favor to ask.

We just drafted a 'decent' back up. Plus we have Claiborne, Patmon and White. We could also scoop up a vet that is cut during camp for a 1m or 2m, someone just like Carr.

Exactly. Doesn't matter who you stick back there. If the other QB has all day to throw, especially to his best receiver, the CB will eventually get caught on.

All of those options are far worse. We get it though. You really hate Carr.

I don't hate Carr. It's just business. Those options can do the same job for a lot less.

It is the same argument people are making about Murray, but unlike Carr, Murray actually produced.

I would have paid Murray before Carr. But Murray is gone now and Carr should follow.

It really boils down to lack of options. Carr is nothing more than average , but average is better than his backup,

Kyle Arrington was just waived by NE. He is more of a slot CB but he is the type pf vet that will be cut before the season starts. Replacing Carr for 25-50% of the cost will be no problem.

We just need to trust the people that have been making the personnel decisions since Carr and Claiborne.

ps-It just hit me. The Patriots released 'Air'ington.

Please don't conflate INT numbers with success. Carr has not played as expected, but it's not because of the number of INTs or lack thereof.
