The Defense was offensive thread

I'm not going to join the crowd bashing the defense. You can win a Super Bowl with a defense worse than ours. Look at Green Bay for instance they had a decimated defense, offensively we just didn't take advantage. We had too many missed opportunities, and frankly needed to run the ball better. To many passing plays longer than 5 or 10 yards were called, and that is not something Prescott has exactly excelled at. He's at his best throwing 5 to 10 yard passes. We are close. Maybe get a pass rusher, and a secondary player, but we're really close to being a serious Super Bowl contender.

We need a talent infusion on the defensive side of the ball in this next draft. Coaching can only do some much. They are very limited on talent. Although the bone headed play of stopping and continuing to run to the sideline by our former 1st round pick Jones was pretty poor.

That's really the bottom line.

Jones had a poor game but it was his first year starting... He's done well for the most part.

Your even handed treated probably will not get much notice on here tonight but the Cowboys brain trust is probably going to think the same to themselves. It was a team loss.

You can't win when the game is tied up and there is only 30 seconds left on the clock and the defense only has to hold for 30 seconds. The defense failed us tonight bottom line. They've played above their weight all year, but you can't let the opposing qb throw for 20+ yards with the last throw of the game.

We need to add multiple pass rushers. No maybe's about it. I'm thinking JPP and a first rounder. Gregory probably doesn't play next year. You dont know how many games D-Law is going to be healthy enough to play, and when he is you don't know if he's going to show up. Irving, so far a front runner..no showed tonight. Mayowa was always a prayer. I would get rid of both Crawford boys.

Heath gets too much hate around here. He is still defined by a game where he got beat by Megatron when Heath was a rookie. Jeez, give the kid a break. He has speed and athleticism, he has a nonstop motor, he hits hard, he can catch, and he looks like he can contend for a starting safety spot next year. We all know Wilcox can lay the wood but are he and Church any better than Heath, really? I would argue Heath makes more out of his opportunities than those two make of theirs.

I'm not sure trying to win a SB with a defense at our level or worse is the formula. Most of the SB champs or contenders are always teams that have good to great defenses that shut down the run and gun offenses. We should be trying to figure out how to contend with the Patriots and Falcons and neutralize finesse teams rather than how to put out a lineup that can win the NFC East but have to rely on stall tactics and hoping you have the ball last strategies.

Offense is set now for a small window. Now is the time to go out and improve the Defense and get this done.

Off season strategy focus on the defense in Free Agency and the Draft, drafted pass rushers take time to get going, we need both with no character, injured or drug players either!

This off-season needs to be dedicated to getting players to help this defense.

A million'LIKES' if I could. My gosh, it shows how GOOD the O was this year to win 13 with the JAG's we have on D. Most all are JUST ANOTHER GUY. Hardly a playmaker amongst them. Like someone said, Heath ONLY one who made any plays tonight. HOT GARBAGE for a front 7. Sorry, not Rod's fault. He needs more to work with: a LOT more.

You neutralize pass happy O's with a dominant front 7....just like Jimmy did in the early 90's. No mystery at all.

Our defense played good the second half which allowed us to catch up. We just came up one play short which cost us.

He's damaged goods anyway. We need 2 young studs in the draft and 1 more solid vet via free agency.
