Different teams, but I remember an undefeated Colts team with the same QB a number of years ago. As i recall, that one went alright for us.
That was back in 2006 when Romo had just taken over as the Cowboys QB and had invigorated the team and the fan base. That was his 5th start and the Cowboys were in the early stages of a 4 game wining streak. That 4 game stretch was one of the most exciting times in Dallas since the Cowboys won their last SB. The team had been playing musical chairs at QB since 2001 and at 3-3 appeared to be going nowhere once again under Bledsoe in 2006. When Bledsoe got benched and Romo took over vs the Giants and tossed 3 picks it looked as if it was going to be a very long season watching him struggle and the Cowboys having to find another QB during the offseason. I'm sure no one expected what was to come with Romo the next few weeks. Indy was 9-0 heading into Texas stadium in 06 and as luck would have it Peyton didn't have a Peyton Manning like day vs the Cowboys. He struggled against a rejuvenated Cowboys team that looked like a completely different team under Romo. Peyton only completed 51.3% of his passes vs the Cowboys for 254 yards, 2 TD's, 2 int's and had a passer rating of 67.7.
The defense really came up big for the Cowboys sacking Peyton twice and forcing 2 fumbles recovering one of them. I doubt we can count on Peyton being as off as he was that day as on fire as he is now. If he plays against the Cowboys like he's played the first 3 games of this season Denver is going score 35+ and win going away. I just don't see how the Cowboys are going to stop Denver's passing attack it's one of the most lethal I've seen in years. Peyton surgically dissects defenses it's incredible to watch. He's off to the best start of his career and if the Cowboys defense looks as lost as it did against brother Eli on opening day Peyton may end up breaking Norm Van Brocklins 62 year old record of 554 passing yards. No doubt the Cowboys will try and run the ball to keep Peyton off the field but Denver will score on most of their possessions I see the Cowboys defense having no answers on how to stop Peyton. If we see any busted coverages or confusion on defense Peyton is going to have an absolute field day.
Romo will likely have a career high in passing attempts trying to play catchup. The only real chance the Cowboys have is beating the Chargers on Sunday and Philly is some how able to knock some of the steam out of Denver by winning in an upset. If Denver enters Cowboys stadium 5-0 and Peyton is continuing his surgical procedures the Cowboys are going to be in some serious trouble. However on one positive note the Cowboys do have a history of rising to the occasion and winning games no one is giving them a chance to win like they did in NO vs the Saints in 09. The Cowboys really need to beat San Diego on Sunday to have some momentum heading into the Denver game. The next 2 weeks can be a big turning point for the Cowboys if they can come away with wins.
