The draft may be the only option (backup QB)

Not advocating for him, and I don't think he's much of an upgrade over Kellen Moore, but we could go "back to the future" and sign Matt Moore (who I always regretted that we cut after an impressive first preseason). I believe he is a free agent.

Simple - Because no QB in this draft class could have a grade that warrants taking him that highly.

Opinions vary
There will be qb's in this draft taken in the top 5, probably a couple
Now I don't think taking a QB at 4 and expecting him to be the backup is all that wise myself but I get the chance to take Wentz at 4 I take him, sign a vet to be the backup, developing him before I throw him out there and then I'm prepared when tony hangs it up

Don't believe all the talking heads say we will not pursue Manziel.

I am convinced we will sign him immediately when he is cut.

We just have to continue with the pretense we will not want him so we don't make the Browns think they can get a trade for him out of us.

Additionally we can't talk about it as he is still with the Browns.

We also want other teams to think we are looking at QB to boost teams who may want to trade with us to move up.

You watch.

Remember I said this.

I just don't think so. Manziel has beena train wreck. Surly even JJones doesn't buy a ticket on that.

I'm thinking Wentz will grade out that high.

Don't care so much how they grade as which has the best shot of being a future starting nfl QB and being a good player
If a QB grades out as 10th best player, and you like him what is wrong with taking him at 4? Getting cute can cost you the player
If you think he has a bright future then take him and don't worry if he grades out st 4 or 14,

I think it all depends on the perceived value.

If the team was considering taking him over Martin last year given the cap hit it would involve..

why would you not consider taking him now when you could have him at a very cap friendly deal we could afford to have him on?

And money aside and ability aside..

Manziel is the best fit for our offense and he is very healthy and has no mileage as opposed to RGIII other than the perceived behavior issues.

If we sign him and he fails again..

we cut him and start over having lost nothing.

That is a huge leap from what would have happened had we taken him in the draft.

I see no issues that can't be anticipated and if he works out..

we have scored a major coup like when we drafted Staubach even though he was still in the Navy.

I see nothing but upside and huge reward if it works and minimum risk if I doesn't.

I think it gets overlooked that his teammates loved him at Texas A&M and he was a total leader for the school.

We need that on this Franchise.

This is where I disagree---If we spend a four on a QB, I want him active on game day with a clipboard ready to go. A veteran backup is pointless in my mind because if Romo misses significant time, unless that veteran is absolutely lighting it up and winning nearly every game, the fans and media will be begging to see the rookie.

Statistically, Weeden wasn't half bad...We lose 3 games and everyone thinks Matt freaking Cassell is the savior. Imagine how we would've reacted if our future franchise QB is back there.

If Jerry signs Manziel, he would truly be a world class moron. And anybody who thinks this would be a good idea, well.............

Johnny Footballs own father says he won't live to see his next birthday I'd he doesn't get help. Johnny may be in prison by the time OTA'S begin. But Jerry is going to sign him?

Colt McCoy is the only option, IMO, if Dallas decides to go the vet QB route. Their best option, though, is still the draft.

There are more than 12 QBs with the potential to be better than Cold McCoy this year, available in the Draft.

Gross over statement.

Now we are looking for Johnnie's dad to guide us..?

He's probably mad at Johnnie for not giving him some of his Cleveland salary for birthing him.

Please.

Emotions and reading too much ESPN is not good for your health, bro.

That's understood.

He has made some bad decisions.

But frankly.

some of the things I have read about his upbringing would explain some of this behavior.

He's a young guy.

Young guys make mistakes.

I'm patient..

especially with a QB with talent that we could use.

Johnny Manziel is an alcoholic and a woman beater. Deny it all you want, but those are the facts. The girlfriend has the broken ear drum to prove it.

He needs to deal with his demons. Football should be the last thing on his mind. And anybody who signs him before he has straightened out his life is a flown blown idiot.

How about after he is "straightened out" ... which without an indictment and within' the "Public Perception" could be a couple of weeks or so.

The alcohol issues will take more than 2 weeks. He showed up at practice so hung over that the Browns had to cover for him and say he had concussion symtoms. Then 3 days later he'S partying in Vegas when he was supposed to be with his team.

And you want THAT as your QB. No way. I don't want that as the QB of my team.
