The Eagles win today hurts more than most seem to realize

What's so scarey is all the teams they are beating, this team finds a way to lose to....

The cowboys put themselves in this position so they either man up and win the rest of NFC east games or they go home. The Jets loss is large now seeing the last 2 weeks.

The Cowboys control their own destiny with regards to the division.

While true, it's also true the Cowboys have given themselves very little wiggle room here too.

That Jets game could be the torpedo that sinks the ship.

You overestimate the Eagles and underestimate the Cowboys.

The Eagles have two wins over teams above .500, both on the road.

We have zero. We have zero quality wins unless you want to think the Eagles are good and count that as a quality win. For all the sucking that we think the Eagles have done, there they sit just a half game behind us because.................. we have kind of sucked ourselves at times.

The Cowboys better win some of these tough games ahead, especially the two home games against the Vikes and Rams.

The Eagles now only have three games left on their schedule (other than Dallas) that they have a realistic chance of losing. It's their next 3, Chicago, NE and Seattle and ALL are at home. Chicago's offense is inept right now and the Seahawks offense tends to go into a shell on the road. Even if they lose ALL THREE, they're going to be 7-7 when they see us again and close the year out against the Giants.

Barring a huge upset, the Eagles worst case scenario right now is 8-8 and that's IF they lose to us. The problem is we only have two games the rest of the way (the Giants and Commanders) you can say we absolutely SHOULD win. And by the time we face Phill again, we will probably be 8-6 at best. And Philly is already locked in with a better head to head record due to beating both the Jets and Packers.

The Eagles winning today pretty much guarantees that, barring them losing a game as a huge favorite or us going on an unexpected rampage through our schedule, the game in Philly will be for the division title.

If we can't go at least 10-6 to win the East, then we probably don't deserve to be in the playoffs anyway. We're a half-game up on the Eagles, we have to play like we did against them and outrun them to the finish line.

I'm not that interested in winning the division because our competition sucks. It would be a hollow victory and likely another quick exit from the playoffs with another year under Garrett following because we made the playoffs.

Bears opened 4.5 point underdogs to Philly.

You told me the Eagles would be an underdog in that game.

I actually said if the Eagles lost their 3rd straight road game in convincing fashion. And the Bears won v. Chargers they’d be the favorites on the road in PHI.

Since we are discussing it, let's look at the two schedules:

Eagles

Bears
Bye
Pats
Seahawks
@ Miami
Giants
@ Commanders
Cowboys
@ Giants

Cowboys

Bye
@ Giants
Vikings
Lions
@ Pats
Bills
@ Bears
Rams
@ Philly
Commanders

The Eagles have a much easier schedule from here on out. Their four toughest games are all at home. Their schedule after Thanksgiving is a total joke other than us, and that game is in Philly.

If they are able to go 2-1 over the next three (Bears, Pats, Seahawks), which is possible, that puts a ton of pressure on us. We really need them to lose 2 of the next three, likely the Pats and Seahawks, which would give us some breathing room. But that's only if we finally start beating teams with a winning record. We likely cannot lose the Vikes or Lions or Rams at home. They probably all have to be wins.

The Bears would not have been favorites in Philly under any circumstance. You were wrong. Just move on. You also said the Bears were better than the Eagles. They are not.

Well I guess if Buffalo had broken Wentz, then maybe the Bears would have been road favorites. Your mistake all along was overrating the Bears. They stink.

Sure, but then if we can't beat these teams then we sure aren't going to win a super bowl, so who cares if we scratch out a division title or not.

Falcons are 1-7 with one win against the Eagles. Neither of these teams should be trusted based on this season.

Any given Sunday, it’s just logical to jump two months ahead and say anything is a “guarantee”.

The Jets only have 1 win too, vs Dallas.

This Giants game is looking like a trap game. Everyone is looking ahead on the schedule. Don’t be surprised if the Giants beat Dallas.

Like I said: it was a hypothetical where both sides turned out not to happen. It is what it is. I “wrong” because the conditions I established went unmet.

I don’t think the Eagles team is very good, if that’s what you’re trying to get at. And yesterday’s win didn’t change that, though it was a big win for them on the third leg of a three week away stretch against a good team.

No, it wasn't that I think the Eagles were very good. It's that the Bears aren't very good. They are the worst offensive team in the NFC. They struggle to score and there are now some cries to bench Trubisky. Even if the Eagles limped into that Bears game, they still would have been a home favorite because the Bears stink.

They'll be home dogs to the Pats for sure. The Seahawks game will be interesting. I suspect the Seahawks will be favorites but it will be a very small line, maybe like 1 point. Philly can absolutely go 2-1 over that stretch, with the Seahawks being the swing game. They will beat up the Bears, lose to NE and then that Seattle game will be big.

If that happens, that's a huge blow to the playoffs and division hopes, even only in Week 9.

This thread has turned nauseating.

Look. We just need the cowboys to at worst be 1 game behind the eagles, by the time the second eagles game comes around.

If the cowboys do that, then the second eagles game is the defacto division title game.

The eagles have the easier schedule, but they also have one more loss than the cowboys at this time. So the cowboys need to drop 2 more games than the eagles do, between now and than, just to be 1 game behind.

So even if the cowboys lose 2 more games then the eagles do, between now and then. The cowboys will still be playing them for the division title.

The only way that second eagles game isn’t for the division title, is if either team completely falls apart.

If that’s the eagles, great.

If that’s the cowboys, we will be looking to fire Garret and move onto next year anyway.

If neither team falls apart then that game is going to be the most important game of the year and for the division title.

And while it’s at Eagles, which means it will definitely be a tough game. The cowboys have played well against the eagles in recent history. So, they can certainly win that game.
