The Eagles win today hurts more than most seem to realize

How would philly have a better head to head record when you already beat them once and if Dallas beats ny and washington again at worst they will be 5-1 in the division?

Drama queen diatribe OP. It's one game and the Cowboys are still a half-game ahead of the iggles. Have some faith in your team, man.

Yeah this is puzzling. It’s an AFC game, it doesn’t hurt. If anything, it shows that the Cowboys are going to obliterate the Bills on Thanksgiving (caveat: if they aren’t missing two tackles and their WR1).

The Eagles still have the Bears, Patriots and Seahawks for their next three games. The Cowboys also hold the head-to-head tie breaker currently. Their destiny is in their own hands.

Would it have been nice if the Eagles lost? Sure, mostly because that’s locker room would have fully imploded. But their win doesn’t hurt at all.

The Eagles now only have three games left on their schedule (other than Dallas) that they have a realistic chance of losing. It's their next 3, Chicago, NE and Seattle and ALL are at home. Chicago's offense is inept right now and the Seahawks offense tends to go into a shell on the road. Even if they lose ALL THREE, they're going to be 7-7 when they see us again and close the year out against the Giants.

Barring a huge upset, the Eagles worst case scenario right now is 8-8 and that's IF they lose to us. The problem is we only have two games the rest of the way (the Giants and Commanders) you can say we absolutely SHOULD win. And by the time we face Phill again, we will probably be 8-6 at best. And Philly is already locked in with a better head to head record due to beating both the Jets and Packers.

The Eagles winning today pretty much guarantees that, barring them losing a game as a huge favorite or us going on an unexpected rampage through our schedule, the game in Philly will be for the division title.

Try to look at it as a win-win.

Win the division, great.

Lose the division...no more Garrett.

The cup is half full, my friend...

Like the stock market, not smart to try to "guess" the league from week to week much less over months at a time. Wince blows out both knees next week and where's your theory? Too many variables to concern over standings when we face the egirls again. Just beat the giants on the road is my only focus.

We need to stop worrying about other teams to default us to the playoffs. If we can't win our games we don't need to go to the dance.

I think that sums things up very well.

If we need to worry about 'getting help' to win the division and make the playoffs, maybe we don't actually deserve to be there in the first place?

This is loser talk.

It goes: Head to head
Division
Conference
Common opponents
Sos
Peter size.

If I am not mistaken.

I'd be shocked if there was ever a time in the history of the NFL if there was ever 2 teams, one 7-1 and the other 1-7, where the lone win and lone loss were to the same team.

They got rid of Peter size in tiebreakers 5 years ago. Supposedly because it was sexist, however most speculate it was just another rule change meant to protect Brady.

The Cowboys control their own destiny with regards to the division.
And that people is the reeeessst of the story. Winning solves any scenario when it comes to the division. Seems like every year the eagles are said to be the better team.....and then we win the division. 9 games still left to play. We are contenders if we can just stay healthy. Staying healthy in today's nfl seems to be a real issue. Maybe they should start hitting in practice again. lol
