Wont change anything for Jerry until his pockets are hit.
That’s really the only way for the type of changes most fans want . Or hitting rock bottom with a total collapse.

It is what it is. Amazing these fans think this loss is a difference maker. They must have bought into the hype as well . Lol

They could possibly lose 4 in a row here, though I think the Chargers and Rams are possible wins.

That would doom McCarthy asap and elevate Quinn to head coach. Not sure if they'd Trey Lance the rest of the season for draft picks, but not likely.

But here's the deal. The 49ers will crush the Eagles, too. It's going to get interesting.
Hold on!!! Lose 4 in a row?? Really?? Take a deep breath — most likely 3-1 and possibly 4-0 (they will play the Eagles hard). SF is so far ahead of the rest of the league so let’s not overreact (I’m counting the Arizona game as a one-off).

The end of Dak Prescott became apparent when they traded for Trey Lance. But that contract will keep Dak in the fold through 2024, unless they can trade him somehow.
Why would you think that? Cutting him in March saves 34 mil on the cap.

What are the odds both Dak AND Zeke are out of the league by September 2025?
Good news is Messrs. Prescott and Elliott have a very secure retirement after fleecing Messrs. Jones' for ~1/3 of a billion dollars between them.

Go Cowboys!

The cap hit is around 62 million, subtract the 34 mill savings and you still get a 28 million cap hit. I would do it but don’t think Jerry will.
That is true.

However, you pretty much always take a cap hit when you release a guy before his contract is up. Nature of the game.

The current structure of the remaining contract is a huge problem! Restructures have resulted in an extremely difficult situation for the team. Even if Dak was playing well, and Dallas wanted to extend/restructure his deal, Dak has all the leverage.

This is the very worst aspect of the GM's decision making regarding Dak. It is not the signing or paying Dak, but the structure of the deal as it stands now. The GM has handicapped this team for years to come, whether or not Dak is released.
I knew there was a chance that the team could release him after the 2023 season but this is why I didn't care to see them restructure his contract this past offseason. It lowered the cap hit in 2023 but increased it in 2024.

You can make all the excuses in the world.. call it scheme. But when other teams are literally gearing up to stop the run.. are sitting on routes… daring your qb to beat them there is a problem.

Dak doesn’t have the it factor… other teams know it. And are taking advantage of it

Jerry will salt the wounds and MM will be gone before Dak, Dak will get an extension before the season ends bookmark it.
That’s why I’m hoping Dak plays so bad and we lose most of our games. It has to be obvious to the most homerish of them all, Jerry, that Dak is not good. I hate to think it or even hope for it but the best thing for our long term future is Dak throwing multiple picks a game and we go 5-12.

I was around in 1988, 1989, 1990. Yes it sucked losing but in 88 losing with Danny White was a different experience than losing with Troy in ‘89. We had to experience ‘88 to get to ‘89. We had to bring in new blood to get rid of the old washed up QB veteran.

I feel that’s where we’re at today. Dak is Danny White and I’d rather lose building for the future than lose remaining stagnant.

DW got the Cowboys to NFC championship games so far Dak hasn’t got to that level.

Jerry won't care until the season gets hit. We still have a winning record on paper so in his mind we are "still in the mix" and that is the bar at Dallas. Not to win titles, but to "stay in the mix"

Sadly I've come to this conclusion as well but I disagree that he hasn't played well against legitimate good teams. Dak was better under Kellen Moore for sure. The 2nd game vs Philly last year he was on fire as an example. Dak at his BEST "can be" the driver on a really good team. Purdy is what we all hoped Dak could be. Typically games like this aren't quite as bad and some of the good spots can be overhyped but I'm sick him right now. I've said on this board that Schultz was a big loss. Our TE's are good but they aren't elite route runners. We miss Moore and Schultz. Dak's performance was one his worst especially in contrast to how Purdy is playing.
