And it's conveniently ignored that the 2-24 on 3rd downs were largely because we were in terrible positions due to nonstop penalties in the Vikings game, with the Vikings being one of the best defenses in the league. Dak just stunk against the Giants. The same thing was happening this game, with nonstop penalties pushing us back.

When you dink and dunk down the field, you tend to eventually get a penalty here and there. That's actually what our own defense kind of counts on. Our offense's early season (lack of) penalty rate wasn't really sustainable, and you've seen that these last few games.

Yea I don't think it was Dak's fault the offense stalled in that Vikings game. There were a few times he got the offense moving only to have penalties bring it all back and put him in long situations. I agree he was awful in the Giants game though.

No it's not conveniently ignored. It's conveniently stated that this was the reason. That's 11 failures average over the two games. There is no way that 11 penalties were on offense in both games putting the team in terrible down and distance positions.

So if being put in hard to convert situations like 1 and 20 were largely the cause of the 3rd down conversions against the Vikings, why is that brought up as part of a 'trend'? Why don't we follow the much longer trend of one of the best 3rd down conversion rates in the league?

The owner/GM has been very open all year long of how he would love to see Tony lead us to a Super Bowl this year. He said last week 1 of 2 unmentionables would have to happen and "you'll know it when you see it." In order for Tony to get in Dak has to get injured or fail and Jerry has been talking about it all year. Is Jerry the only one? Jerry makes millions and gets an ego pump of Dak wins it all yet he talks about Tony getting in openly. Is Jerry the only one hoping Tony gets in in one of those 2 ways?

thats a very short list, i dont think true fan wants a players on our team to fail. the people wanted to see romo play werent wishing failure on dak. they just want the better QB to play.

And they want the 2014 Romo. Because that's the one they remember. No one knows what Romo is today, coming back from another injury and not playing since preseason vs the Seahawks. Which was what, 1 play. Dak has chemistry with the team and is 12-2. Right now no one can say Romo of 2016 is the better qb. Until he actually plays and can get up from another big hit.

I loved Daks game today.
Hes been mostly great all year, imo.
But actually, it was a very good Alex Smith like performance.
If you saw that stat line and asked who delivered, that is exactly who you would think of.
He mananged the game in an excellent manner! Thays not an insult...folks need to realize that.
That works just just fine on a team like ours with a dominate line and RB...and a defense delivi g 4 turnovers
32-36, 279, 0 Tds, 0 ints, 99 QB rating...and a win:flagwave:
Be happy:thumbup:

He was awsome, I am one of the ones that think's Romo (2014 verison) would make this offense better, saying that, no way Dak sits after this game, it's his team wherever this ends up. Great feeling as a Cowboys fan knowing this guy will be our QB for the next 10+ years.

You know who they are. They just couldn't jump in front of their innuendos and man up.
Yeah, there were definitely guys laughing at his performance, I called one out on it... like it seemed he was enjoying him struggle just because some said he was an MVP candidate, so all I heard was "haha to all those calling him an MVP in September" or "he can't win when it counts, you have to start Romo".

P****d me off

In other words people are silently wanting Dak to fail.

The team was 2-24 on 3rd down conversions the past two weeks. That's as deserving a time of criticism as any. That's not "picking anything apart". That is just an awful conversion rate.

Yes, the team's conversion rate was horrible. We tried to kill ourselves with penalties on offense again. Had a holding call take a TD off the board.

I think very, very few want him to fail. They're just afraid to commit. The more they enjoy what's happening now, the bigger the emotional investment, the worse the potential letdown.

Exactly, same group that overreact like teenage girls every time we dont explode in the first quarter. They are a soft group. Sack up and support your team and your QB! One agenda; WINNING, not being right or feeling smart, or saving face on a message board just WINNING.

Cool. Another "I was right and you were all wrong" thread.

Can we all be happy that Dak showed a crap-ton of poise tonight and put the debate to rest? I am a massive Romo homer, but I was THRILLED with Dak's performance tonight. Some QBs would falter under the adversity. Dak did the complete opposite which is a great sign for the rest of his career.
