Trade Barber, he's great, but he's lost a little bit of his step and he doesn't have the potential the other two have. You can get a good player out of him.

All depends on how they play, stay healthy, what might be offered, and salary structure and cap. Also what happens to the cap period as another poster suggested. I think there will be an agreement but it may be something unlike what we've seen. I don't keep up with that end of things much.

And it's not easy to trade NFL players anymore esp when they are RBs. It's not hard to find a RB.

You trade Choice hands down.

People are in love with Choice because he's the flavor of the week, just like Miles Austin.

But he is the clear cut 3rd best back on this team. And unless we're gonna pull another Herschel trade, you dont trade away Barber or Jones.

Even the notion of trading one of the three makes me upset. But, I agree with the article-- I'm a Devils fan in hockey (it's that sport people play on the ice.. frozen water..) and I've seen literally every single one of my favorite superstars (Holik, MacLean, Muller, Niedermayer, Rafalski, Friesen, Gomez, Gionta, Madden) go away with nothing to show for it. And trust me, it hurts to see your favorite player leave. But it hurts more to see him leave, and nobody walk in because of it. If we can get a mid/late-1st out of Marion.. go for it. As much as it pains me.

This may well be the final year of the salary cap.

The NFLPA has been very vocal about their unwillingness to go back to a cap if the uncapped season takes place in 2010.
If their's no cap they probably won't play next season. as to the op, it's not a problem we have to worry about for atleast a few years.

I think people like Choice because he's reliable, stays healthy, plays with heart, and is the best all around back we have. I really wouldn't say its a flavor of the week thing... He's been like this last year, when we needed him most, and even the past couple of games...

False.
He's not a flavor of the week player.
He's consistent, and has performed against top defenses.
He has not failed the team yet, when given the chance, the kid comes through.

The CBA runs through next season, so it's game on.

The final year of the CBA provided an uncapped year if the deal was not extended beforehand.

A deal may be reached that avoids it, but it doesn't look promising at this point.

A lot of things will change if the 2010 is uncapped.

Unrestricted free agents will need to have completed 6 seasons instead of 4. Restricted free agency will cover all players who have played 3-5 seasons in the NFL.

All clubs making the divisional round of the playoff will be restricted in free agent signing. Those team will need to lose a free agent (not including players who are released) before they can sign a free agent and the money must be around the same amount (they can't lose a scrub & sign a star).

Barber shouldn't even be starting. Choice has better vision and is a smarter runner, using his blocks better.

Barber excelled as a closer and that's where he needs to return. Choice in the first half, Barber to close it out.

I would have to trade Barber.

Choice and Felix are both good and early in their years of playing in the NFL.

Am I the only one who thinks Choice has the best chance of staying?

No. While coaches may not put him on the field before Barber and Felix, I guarantee you Jerry is watching him play having flashbacks of the 90s.

Barber is the better all-around back when healthy, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who disagree's with that. Could be wrong though. Only thing Choice has on Barber is a bit of speed.

And as far as Choice staying healthy, Barber was healthy until last year. And you're only healthy until your next injury, which happens quite a bit in the NFL.

You speak the truth with everything you said. But he's still the third best back on our team. Not to mention the intangibles that Barber brings to this team. The dude is the heart and soul of our offense.

Felix is our only real game changer but until we see him stay on the field, I have to say he may be a continual strip-tease. We're clearly not the same without him but if we have to play over half our games without him....what's the point? I'd keep an eye on Barber's ability to stay on the field now too. The punishment he's doled out may be catching up with him. His ability is quite replaceable, his passion and spark may not be. Choice you keep. He's a good all-around back that has proven that he can do it all and stay on the field. He's been the reliable one, you have to keep him. Plus he's cheap.

The inevitable will happen. The Dallas Cowboys cannot field and afford three running backs, each who could probably start on at least half of the NFL teams. Tashard Choice and Felix Jones are two years into their careers, while Marion Barber is a NFL veteran.

What I don’t want to see happen is the Cowboys lose one of these guys to free agency. Some team out there needs a running back and one of those teams will take any one of these three studs. This means the Cowboys must consider trading one of these three running backs, even though this three-headed monster has come in real handy because of injuries—which sort of opens the door to speculation.

Is Tashard Choice the future? Well, he has had some runs that made him resemble Marion Barber with the sheer power he uses to push through defensive lineman.

Marion Barber certainly is a player who motivates and pumps up the team. Is he the guy the Cowboys should consider trading? Picks or players?

Or do the Cowboys part ways early with Felix Jones, who cannot stay healthy, but is very dangerous–very very dangerous, when he is in the game.

Wow. Tough call. But notice how I leave Choice out of the trade talks. That’s because after watching most of his game tapes, he really looks like a player who can be a star in this league–full time. I think it would be a huge error to trade him away. In fact, the Cowboys coaching staff want to get him more carries. Do you blame them? He’s really good.

This sort of reminds me of the day we traded Herschel Walker to the Vikings. We traded our best player on the team? A few years later we were a dynasty.

Can the Cowboys financially sustain these three running backs into the future? It becomes the toughest choice in the history of the organization in my opinion. But if the Cowboys want to seriously address the weaknesses they have on offense and defense, all three of these guys could do that.

If you were the Cowboys GM, who would you trade?

Who would you trade

Marion Barber
Tashard Choice
Felix Jones

I thought the idea is to get good football players on your team. They are all productive and help the team toward goal of winning games. I like them all. But if you put a gun to my head as to which to trade, it would be Barber.

Barber's running style ultimately will do him in, so if I had to trade one, its him.
