There's always a whole lot of dumb in these "Let's trade X" threads.

I've posted it before and I'll do it again. Choice is our best OVERALL running back. He isn't as fast as Felix and he isn't as bruising a runner as Barber, but he does have the best combination of speed, quickness, and toughness of all three. Plus, he can catch the ball out of the backfield and he has not been injured yet. That doesn't mean he won't get nicked any time soon, but he has been very durable so far. As someone else posted, we've got a couple of years before we have to worry about losing any of the three.

You trade Choice hands down.

People are in love with Choice because he's the flavor of the week, just like Miles Austin.

But he is the clear cut 3rd best back on this team. And unless we're gonna pull another Herschel trade, you dont trade away Barber or Jones.

Don't catch many of the Boy's games, huh? Saying Choice is "clearly" the 3rd best back on this team is well.......I won't go there.

Barber has been outstanding this season when healthy, and was having a good game in Denver..just sayin. Think he was well over 5 yards per carry going into the KC game.

We need them all right now. We're going into an uncapped season most likely next year. So right now it appears they all need to stay and we can afford them since they are all under contract.

You may want to look at Barber's play and injuries then make a decision. If he's injured too often then you won't get much for him and it will make sense to either keep him after forcing a restructure or cut him. If he plays well then you probably want to keep him unless someone makes you an offer you can't refuse.

Assuming all 3 are healthy and I could only keep two, I'd take Felix and Choice and trade Barber.

Honestly, I believe Choice could be an elite runningback in the NFL if given 20 carries a game. He has excellent vision and really hits holes hard with little to no dancing. I love Barber, but I think Choice just has the ability to take it to another level. That, and he is younger and has less wear and tear.

You speak the truth with everything you said. But he's still the third best back on our team. Not to mention the intangibles that Barber brings to this team. The dude is the heart and soul of our offense.

Barber is the emotional leader of an offense that commits drive killing penalties on a regular basis, has several guys that don't seem to know where to line up half the time, and generally hasn't played up to it's potential for the better part of the last 2 seasons.

He is an emotional, fiery guy that plays his tail off. But it doesn't get through to a lot of his teammates. So I am wondering what that is really worth.

Who would you trade

Marion Barber
Tashard Choice
Felix Jones
As much as I'd hate to see any of them playing in another uniform, I'd have to say MBIII if for no other reason than age. While he's only had one season (an abbreviated one @ that) as a featured back, he has more "miles" on his legs and few more years of age. So I think he's the logical choice and Felix & TC should still complement each other w/ their different running styles.

 I strongly (and respectfully) disagree.

Barber shouldn't even be starting. Choice has better vision and is a smarter runner, using his blocks better.

Barber excelled as a closer and that's where he needs to return. Choice in the first half, Barber to close it out.

This.

Barber's running style ultimately will do him in, so if I had to trade one, its him.

Correct. Barber doesn't have many years left running like that and we just may miss a golden opportunity to capitalize.

I like Choice the best. Give him all the carries in a game and he'll produce. He's shown he can do it, even against the very best in the league.

I wish he was used more, cause he strikes me as the type of guy who only gets better with more carries

This may well be the final year of the salary cap.

The NFLPA has been very vocal about their unwillingness to go back to a cap if the uncapped season takes place in 2010.

All three backs are signed through 2011, after which Tashard Choice will be a restricted free agent (new CBA might change status) and Felix Jones is good through 2012.

So we don't need to do anything for a while.

Marion Barber's contract will start to get more expensive, but the other two are playing for peanuts on rookie deals.

Money is a non-issue here.

As long as all three are playing well, why not keep them?

We've needed that depth both this season and last.

Our only problem at running back is deciding how to divvy up the carries, let's leave it at that.

 Best response in this thread, we don't need to think about trading any of this backs at least for 2 more years.

Nobody's trading for Barber - not what we would want anyway. I think some would trade for Choice but the Cowboys would be CRAZY to let him go. Felix- no trade for him either until he proves he can stay healthy..

Barber will not be resigned after his contract runs out and Choice and Felix will be resigned when theirs do. Then we will draft another guy.

I just don't think Barber would get you more than a 2nd tops and he is worth more than that to the Cowboys. Now is the time to limit Barbers carries and keep him productive for the remainder of his contract.

Very thoughtful response. This is probably how it will play out.

I wouldn't even worry about this until after the 2010 season.

Choice is restricted too so its not like he can just walk away.

I'd keep them all as long as I could.

Barbers injuries aren't really from taking a pounding either. Hes hurt a toe and a hamstring.

Barber is still the best all around back on our team and when we need someone to show heart he always takes it to that 5th gear and imposes his will on teams.
